Overview

The Sharda School of Bio-Science and Technology is one of the most dynamic and vibrant School for Life Scinces and Biological Engineering in the Delhi-NCR, Greater Noida India. The school is providing excellent and quality educational opportunities in are areas of Moleuclar Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, Virology, Cancer Biology, Plant Molecular Biology, Agriculture Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology etc by training the student community for Entrepreneurship development, Research and technical skills for the student community in particular for those coming from the diverse cultural and socio-economic background of the nation. SSBT offers innovative postgraduate and PhD programmes that inculcate personal and professional enrichment leading to the formation of vivacious and enthusiaistic  student community.

Objective

The main objective of the Department is to provide academic training and conduct research in the interdisciplinary areas of biotechnology with particular emphasis on extending the knowledge generated from these studies towards the development of technologies of commercial significance. All the basic infrastructural facilities needed for conducting teaching and research programs in different areas of Biotechnology have been developed in the department. The department is housed in a newly constructed building consisting of classrooms with audio-visual facilities well-equipped Research laboratories, a special lab for Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Plant Tissue Culture, Microbial technology, Nanobiotechnology, and Bioinformatics. The students undergo project training in modern Biotechnology viz Bioinformatics, Genomics, Neurobiology, NanoBiotechnology, Water Management, Cancer Biology, Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, Plant and Animal Biotechnology, etc.

The faculty members of the department are excellent teachers and research scientists, and they have published papers in high impact factor peer-reviewed journals, including JAD, BBA, APCS, JTM, Genes (MDPI), JBC, FASEB, PloS One, Pharmacogenomics, BMC Genomics, Journal of Immunology, Scientific Reports - Nature and Journal of Neuroscience.

Dean’s Message

The School of Bioscience and Technology maintains excellent standard of teaching to pass the
knowledge from one generation to the next and is deeply entrenched to create new knowledge
through research for societal development. We encourage our students to be talented and creative.
We may not be a rich nation, but if our graduates are talented we can turn around our nation with a
few material resources.
We have excellent faculty who are trained and conducted research in well known National and
International Universities or institutions. Our faculties are excellent teachers and researchers. We
have good research facilities including flow cytometer, UV, Visible, FR-IR, Fluorescence spectroscopic
facilities, PCR machines, inverted and fluorescence microscopes to conduct advanced research. We
have molecular biology facilities including several PCR machines, real time PCR machines to study
gene expression, conducting gene cloning and transgenic research. We have transgenic green house,
plant and animal cell culture facilities to promote research in biology and biotechnology.
We are deeply involved in protein science and its technological application supported by wet
laboratory and bioinformatics for drug designing and find new targets to kill human parasites and
cure cancer. Use of nanoparticles to cure human diseases is another important aspect of our
research capabilities. Similarly. we are involved in transgenic plant research to generate crop plants
i.e., mustard and rice for better yield potential and resistance to drought, heat and salinity to
achieve food security. The bioprocess and down-stream processing are facilitated by fermenter and
other equipment to generate valuable products.
Our students after passing out of Sharda university have joined several national and foreign
universities for higher studies (MTech./MSc,/PhD) or postdoctoral research. They have also joined as
Assistant Professors in different Universities.
We have secured placement for 80%-90% of our graduates with good packages.
