Prof. (Dr.) Gulshan Wadhwa

About

Prof. (Dr.) Gulshan Wadhwa is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at Sharda University. He is a veteran scientist, administrator, and academician with over three decades of profound experience spanning governance, industrial research, and academia.

Prior to joining Sharda University, Dr. Wadhwa served as a Scientist-G, Advisor, and Director in the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. During his highly impactful 27-year tenure with the Government of India, he was instrumental in shaping the nations biotechnology landscape. Most notably, he conceptualized and developed the Biotechnology Information System Network (BTISnet), establishing over 170 DBT Bioinformatics Centres, building specialized teaching and training programs, and setting up Indias foundational supercomputing facilities in Bioinformatics. He has also undertaken work in the areas of Anima Biotechnology and Aquaculture, IPR and Outreach also.

With an additional 5 years of rich core-industry experience prior to his government service, Dr. Wadhwa brings a rare blend of translational, regulatory, and deep academic expertise to his research and teaching.
