About the conference

The 17th Annual Conference of the Uttar Pradesh - Uttarakhand Economics Association (UPUEA), with Prof. P.K. Sinha as the Conference President, is scheduled to be held in the Last week of April 2022 at SSBS, Sharda University, Greater Noida, G. B. Nagar. The 17th Annual Conference of the UPUEA is being held at a time when India is celebrating its 75th year of independence and the country is poised for major transformations. India has established an enviable record in many areas, but at the same its growth and development performance has lagged behind several countries in east and south-east Asia. Further, income and employment growth had slowed down in the years leading up to the Covid-19 Crisis. Since 2020, the country and the world are being ravaged by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has not only affected the health and well-being of the population, but has also given a major shock to economic growth and employment. This has affected the poor and vulnerable sections most of all. While there was a major set-back to the economy in 2020-21, the economy began to recoup in 2021-22, despite the second Covid-19 wave and aggregate economic activity reached the pre-Covid level in the second quarter of the year. However, the third wave is again threatening the pace and pattern of recovery. This is, therefore, an opportune moment not only to reect on India's long-term trajectory of growth and development since independence, but also the immediate challenges posed by the pandemic, which also could have longer-term consequences. As pointed out above, these challenges are not the same for all sections of society. Current evidence shows that inequality has increased even as the poorer sections, the young, women workers, and the informal sector have been hugely impacted. Therefore, this Conference will be organized under an overarching theme viz India @75: An assessment of Development Challenges in the light of Covid-19. The papers at the Conference are further invited to use the lens of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand to dwell on development challenges, responses, and alternative strategies and paradigms. In the light of the above, the following are the themes for the forthcoming conference.

Themes
India @75: An assessment of Development Challenges in the light of Covid-19.

  • Theme 1: Covid-19 and the Economy.
  • Theme 2: Assessment of Pandemic and Post-pandemic Policies for Vulnerable Sectors and Groups.

We ourselves faced all these chords of emotions and with us celebrated the whole university, the start of a new phase in life. Again, the time of the year has come where we get to experience this euphoria.

“Neo-Fest” - meaning ‘a new festival, is what we have coined for our upcoming freshers day 2022. As the name speaks for itself, it is our warm welcome to our freshmen. The event is an amalgamation of cultural, sports, music, and art dimensions organized by our very own college clubs with a core team of our faculties as well as the senior students of the university. The program would be accompanied by a plethora of engaging activities including a ramp walk, traditional, western, and fusion dance, vocal performances, skillful decorations, and amongst all of this, it would be an ice-breaker for each and everyone present.

The main highlights of our event are -

Sharda University School of Law, Centre of Excellence for Environmental Laws in association with Department of Environmental Sciences, School of Basic Sciences & Research organizes 03 Days International Conference on Environmental Law  Theme: “Negative Emissions and Climate Change: Sustainable way forward”  (Hybrid -both Online and offline mode) from Thursday- Saturday, 28th -30th October, 2021.

About The Conference

In the present era any discussion on environment is incomplete without discussing the contribution of Paris Agreement 2015. The Paris agreements focus was on its goal to limit global warming to well below 2 degree, preferably to 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels. It is important to note that though it is touted as legally binding agreement in fact it is a legal which is a hybrid of legally binding and nonbinding provisions. Now it needs to be looked into that what is the role of Negative Emissions to adapt and mitigate climate change. Large-scale carbon removal, also referred to as negative emissions, has recently gained attention as a key component of climate change mitigation pathways that limit warming to 1.5 or 2°C.

This developing dialogue is intriguing not just for what it says, but also for what it doesn't say. The negative emissions literature is present now is forward-looking and hypothetical, characterized by the results of scenario assessments and hence mostly focused on future hazards and situations. While this has sparked a lively debate about the feasibility and appropriateness of various mitigation pathways—as well as how and by whom they are built—there has been considerably less attention paid to stocktaking or efforts to learn from real-world carbon removal experiences. Despite the fact that many of the "technologies" presently being promoted under the name of "zero emissions" are really harmful to the environment- —primarily bio-energy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) and afforestation and reforestation as discussed in IPCC, 2018 have been around for a considerable time. More generally, the enhancement of carbon sinks has been a policy objective and a coveted offsetting strategy at least since the negotiation of the Kyoto Protocol.

The lessons from earlier experiences with carbon removal directly speak to the present possibilities, limitations, barriers, and conditions for negative emissions and should inform current research and policy promises if we are to avoid repeating past mistakes. Self-reflexivity, on the other hand, must extend to the underlying politics of the negative emissions debate. Because of the irreducibly political nature of carbon removal, researchers must question whose interest are served and whos neglected in the pursuit of negative emissions.

Sharda University School of Law (SUSOL) is organizing Virtual National Seminar on “Approach of Judiciary in Implementation of Alternative Dispute Resolution” on 09-10th April, 2021

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Conflicts and disputes co-exist in the society. We cannot avoid conflicts but what is more important is how we manage or handle such conflicts. Legal recourse is one of the methods of conflict resolution, however is a protracted and costly affair and often unsatisfactory. Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) is an alternative to the adversarial system of legal proceedings. At present, the Judiciary is clogged with over 3 crore cases pending in various courts all over the country. Covid-19 pandemic has further posed challenges to the court proceedings.  The existing judicial system finds it difficult to cope with the ever-increasing burden of litigation. Such state of affairs calls for ADR to step in where the justice is delayed as the legal maxim goes “Justice delayed is Justice denied

OBJECTIVES

  • To analyze critically the approach of judiciary in implementation of ADR
  • To identify and understand the key challenges in effective implementation of ADR at various levels.
  • To explore and recognize role of law and society in dispute resolution.
  • To create awareness about importance of ADR as a part of justice dispensing system.
  • To impart greater awareness about the alternative platform available to a litigant as oppose to conventional form of instituting a suit.
  • To understand Alternative Dispute Resolution in India is an attempt made by the legislators and judiciary alike to achieve the “Constitutional goal” to achieve complete justice in India.
  • To equip the law students and legal professionals with practical aspect of ADR techniques.
  • To look for futuristic assessment of best practice in the area of ADR.

EXPECTED OUTCOME

  • The present seminar has been conceptualized with the objective of appreciating progress made by India in the sphere of ADR while creating space for discussion on matters pertaining to legal issues concerning implementation of Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism in India at various levels.
  • In this background there is an incessant call to hold seminars, conferences, workshops, symposia and discussions to elicit valuable inputs from the ground so as to effectively shed light on the usage of the best practices of dispute resolution techniques.
  • Enhance the understanding of the emerging scenario related to dispute resolution while providing an updated account of law incorporating the recent amendments in the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.
  • Offer an opportunity to experts from various stakeholders comprising of Researchers, Academicians, Law Experts, Negotiators, Diplomats, and students to come together and share their valuable opinions.

School of Nursing Science& Research (SNS&R), Sharda University is organizing International Webinar on the Theme: “Transforming global Nursing perspectives through innovation and Research” from 7th to 11thDec 2020, Timing:2.00 pm to 4.00 pm

About the webinar:

Globalization is one of the most important driving forces in the new millennium. Together with urbanization and digitalization, it reshapes patterns of human existence and societies on a global scale. Although nursing to some extent has been a global profession, the expansion to global awareness clearly develops the patterns in nursing knowledge. However, there have been few attempts to grasp and overview the consequences of globalization as it is addressed in scholarly knowledge. Researchers stress that nursing in the 21st century has many challenges due to the globalized world. Furthermore, this global approach in nursing has been reported to correspond to the challenges of human vulnerability and equality. In addition, the strengthening of nursing discipline stands out, both in a local and Global Nursing scene.

The nursing profession is changing and has gone through several modifications during the last decades. For that reason, nurses, individually and collectively, have the power and the social consciousness to influence basic social services and health care. Thus, nurses should conceive a broader global picture. As global competencies must be mastered, nurses shouldheld long term values, faculty knowledge, nursing policies, nursing education and research and innovation.

Objective

  • To Enlighten the Nurses with implication of Nursing Education Policy on Nursing Education Policy
  • To Enhance the knowledge regarding transforming innovative in Nursing Practices

THEME OF THE FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (FDP):

Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is a statistical methodology that is widely used in social sciences research (especially marketing, organizational behavior, human resource management, psychology, behavioral nance and behavioral economics). SEM was introduced in 1970s and combines psychometrics with econometrics. On the psychometric side, SEM allows for latent variables with multiple indicators. On the econometric side, SEM allows for multiple equations, possibly with feedback loops. SEM models are so general that they encompass most of the statistical methods that are currently used in the social and behavioral sciences. SEM allows a researcher to test complex models with multiple pathways, model latent variables with multiple indicators, investigate mediation and moderation in a systematic way and adjust for measurement error in predictor variables. This workshop shall provide the participants a general introduction to SEM. The workshop will be based on a combination of theoretical and practiceoriented sessions that will provide working knowledge of R, a statistical software.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon the completion of this FDP, the participants would be able to:
1. Understand analysis techniques like conrmatory factor analysis, path analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM).
2. Understand concepts like mediation and moderation testing used in the design and conduct of management research.
3. Get hands-on training on statistical analysis package R and R-studio

Registration Link: https://forms.gle/zjg3tHfE2U76ofpt9

Department of Mathematics, School of Basic Sciences and Research, Sharda University is organizing a short term course on Advance Vedic Mathematics. Vedic Mathematics is the name given to the ancient system of Indian Mathematics which was rediscovered from the Vedas between 1911 and 1918 by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji (1884-1960). According to his research, all mathematics is based on sixteen Sutras, or word- formulas. These formulas describe the way the mind naturally works and are therefore a great help in directing the student to the appropriate method of solution.

In the Vedic system 'difficult' problems or huge sums can often be solved immediately by the Vedic method. These striking and beautiful methods are just a part of a complete system of mathematics which is far more systematic than the modern 'system'. Vedic Mathematics manifests the coherent and unified structure of mathematics and the methods are complementary, direct and easy.
It aims to build up a platform for students to recognize their hidden potential, improve their mathematical abilities and also drastically enhance their academic performance and ultimately eradicate Math-Phobia. Learning mathematics must be a fun and joyful experience. These courses are designed to serve that purpose.

Objectives of the course:

  • To make math fun filled and arise interest which in turn will increase the speed and accuracy in various competitive and placement exams.
  • To improve academic performance and instant results.
  • To learn the utility of maths tricks for fast calculation. To develop the students mind for new research.
  • To develop integrity and memory of the learners.
