About

Dr.Ramesh Joshi, Ph. D., completed his doctoral degree from Jodhpur University, Jodhpur, Rajasthan and possesses a total research experience of 31 years. His area of expertise is Plant Tissue culture and Molecular Biology. He started his professional career in Tata EnergyResearchInstitute (TERI), New Delhi in the year 1991 and was involved in technology/protocol development for Anogeissus plant which was then tested on commercial scale for high frequency regeneration of in-vitro plantlets. This led to successful transplantation of more than one lakh plants under natural conditions. Later he joined Department of Botany in Colleges within Rajasthan and scaled from Assistant Professor to Professor rank. During his entire tenure he has been involved in various research, academics, training and administrative activities.

Some of his research highlights includes Development of in-vitro clonal regeneration protocol for Murraya koenigii (Curry leaf plant) through axillary and adventitious shoot regeneration; Development of Somatic embryogenesis in Murraya koenigiiplant, Determination of Genetic fidelity in the micro-propagated plants of M koenigii, Assessing genetic diversity among plants of economic importance.

Dr Joshi has published number of research papers in the journals of international repute. Besides research activities, he has contributed a lot in the Institutional development activity by being Convener of RUSA (Nodal Officer), UGC cell, Member of Building Committee, Purchase Committee and Equipment Committee, Member of IQAC, Member of UGC cell and as Officer-In-Charge of Plant Biotechnology Lab in Department of Botany SPC Government College, Ajmer. He has guided a total of 8 PhD students and 11 M.Phil students on various research ongoing in his laboratory. He is presently themember of Society of In-vitro Biology (SIVB) and American Society of Horticultural Sciences (ASHS).

At present Dr Ramesh Joshi is working as Professor and In-Charge of Plant Tissue Culture and Hydroponics laboratory.
