School of Dental Sciences (SDS) formerly known as Hindustan Institute of Dental Sciences was established in the year 2006. Now, part of Sharda University, it envisions an ambience of excellence, inspiring, value based education, research and development.
SDS is a Recognized Dental College for an intake 100 students by Dental Council of India & Ministry of Health and Family welfare, New Delhi. SDS provides comprehensive facilities for teaching, research and patient care.
SDS imparts Dental education of a very high standard to its student. The school has adopted the innovative methods in teaching with community-based teaching education and research. The educational goal of SDS for its students is to ensure a holistic development in theoretical, practical and clinical skills with the aim to prepare compassionate human beings, caring, responsible and courteous dental professionals responsible and society conscious citizens.
Recognitions: School of Dental sciences is Recognized by Min. of Health & Family welfare, Govt. of India and Dental Council of India New Delhi for 100 seat admissions per year for BDS Programme and Approved for 21 seats per year ( 3 seats each in 7 specialty) for MDS Programme from the academic session 2012 onwards.
Dr. Jagadeesh HG, Principal, Dean & Professor of School of Dental Sciences (SDS), is among the leading Educational reformers who have given a new direction to the teaching methodology practiced across the country.
He did his Bachelors of Dental Surgery and Masters of Dental Surgery in Prosthodontics from Bapuji Dental College & Hospital, Davangere, Mysore University.
He started his teaching career as Lecturer at Bapuji Dental College, Davangere. During his 8 years of career at Bapuji Dental College, he worked in various roles and introduced innovative teaching methodology for the holistic development of students. He was involved in Clinical case discussions with Under-Graduate students, preparation and presentation of Under-Graduate lectures in Dental Materials and Prosthodontics. In addition, he also worked for Post-Graduate student’s training in preparing & presenting Seminars and Patient management.
Later, he joined SDM College of Dental Sciences, Dharwad and worked for 12 years as Professor and Associate Professor in the department of Prosthodontics. He represented the College at various Seminars and Conferences and was Secretary of the Staff club. Several research projects were actively carried out under his guidance and supervision. He was a Guest faculty at Koirala Dental College, Dharan, Nepal under the Teacher Exchange Programme.
He was also an active participant in various Workshops organized by Dentaurum at Germany, IDA & Specialty Conferences, and summoned many conferences as Convener. He presented scientific papers at 24th IPS Conference, 3rd Triennial Commonwealth Dental Association, and at the 54th IDA Conference, where his work was duly acclaimed. He was also appointed as Examiner to conduct Under- and Post-Graduate clinical and practical examinations in Prosthodontics and Dental materials for various Universities.
He has many publications to his name and his work on “Effect of different finishing and polishing agents on the surface roughness of Cast Pure Titanium” won him laurels. He is a Life member of the Indian Prosthodontic Society. He served as Hon. Secretary cum Treasurer for two terms at IDA Dharwad district branch, Karnataka.
