About Department

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Sharda University is dedicated to the diagnosis, surgical management, and comprehensive rehabilitation of diseases, injuries, deformities, and defects involving the oral and maxillofacial region.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery represents a unique specialty that bridges dentistry and medicine, encompassing both functional and aesthetic management of conditions affecting the jaws, face, oral cavity, and associated structures. With rapid advancements in surgical science and technology, the scope of the specialty has evolved far beyond routine dentoalveolar procedures into a highly specialized surgical discipline.

The department provides comprehensive management of a wide spectrum of maxillofacial conditions including impacted teeth, odontogenic infections, maxillofacial trauma, temporomandibular joint disorders, cysts and tumors of the jaws, salivary gland diseases, oral potentially malignant disorders and oral cancer. Advanced surgical procedures including orthognathic surgery, cleft lip and palate surgery, craniofacial and dentofacial deformity correction, reconstructive surgery, facial aesthetic procedures, distraction osteogenesis, and facial reanimation are routinely addressed through a multidisciplinary approach.

The department is also actively involved in the field of Oral Implantology in collaboration with allied dental specialties, offering contemporary implant-based rehabilitation and advanced pre-prosthetic surgical procedures.
