Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is that branch of Dentistry that deals with diagnosis, surgical and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries and, defects of human jaws, oral cavity and associated structures.
Gone are the days when oral surgeon’s role was limited to extraction of teeth and minor oral surgeries, with the advent of modern science, the scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery has dramatically widened.
The science of oral and maxillofacial surgery is an important link between dentistry and medicine. The tooth bearing jaws and allied structures frame the internal support of the soft tissues of the face. We as a maxillofacial surgeon deal with bony and soft tissue complex in around the oral cavity jaws and face.
Surgical management of Oro-Facial region deals not only with Exodontia and minor oral surgeries but also with impactions, space infections, Preprosthetic Surgeries, Facial trauma, management of TMJ disorders, maxillary sinus, cleft lip and palate and other congenital Dentofacial Deformities, Orthognathic Surgery, Maxillofacial Pathologies like cysts and tumors, salivary gland disorders, Oral cancer, Ablative and reconstructive surgeries along with advanced surgical procedures like Distraction Osteogenesis, Facial cosmetic surgery and reanimation.
The Oral Maxillofacial Department in collaboration with Dept of Periodontics and Prosthodontics is also venturing in to the field of Oral Implantology.
Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery has a dedicated, outstanding, experienced clinicians and eminent teachers who have received advanced training from well reputed institutes from different parts of India.
The Department is affiliated to a 500 bedded Sharda Multispecialty Hospital with all the advanced facilities which is located within University campus.
The operation theatre, recovery and ICU are well equipped and with the support of medical team we are catering a wide population of NCR, Greater Noida, Western U.P addressing and surgically treating a plethora of Maxillofacial problems.
