21 Jun 2026

The 12th International Day of Yoga was celebrated at the University Cricket Ground with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and staff under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

The programme was jointly organized by the Office of the Dean Students Welfare, Sharda School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), NSS Cell, Sharda School of Dental Sciences (SDS), Sharda Care–Healthcity, and NCC 31 UP Girls Battalion.

Among the distinguished guests were Dr. Mohit Sahni, Associate Dean (R&D), Shri M. P. Singh, Senior Yoga Instructor, and Shri Dinesh Rai, Retired IAS Officer and Former National Vice-Chairman of H.H. Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi Sahaja Yoga Trust. Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of yoga in maintaining physical, mental, and emotional well-being and encouraged participants to make yoga a part of their daily lives.

A key highlight of the event was the Sahaja Yoga session conducted by Shri Dinesh Rai, who shared insights on self-awareness, inner peace, and spiritual well-being.

The Common Yoga Protocol session was led by Dr. Ritu Chaku, Associate Professor, SHSS, along with Mr. Shivam Bhardwaj, Yoga Instructor. Participants actively took part in yoga asanas, pranayama, and meditation practices designed to promote overall wellness.

As part of the programme, Sharda Care–Healthcity organized a free health check-up camp offering Blood Pressure (BP), Blood Sugar, and Body Mass Index (BMI) screenings. Information about the “Your Age, Your Discount” initiative was also shared with participants.

Organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar, Dean Students Welfare, and Dr. Santhi Narayanan, Associate Dean Students Welfare, the celebration concluded with a vote of thanks to the guests, healthcare partners, volunteers, and participants.

The event reinforced the message of “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” and promoted wellness, healthy living, and holistic development across the campus community.
