Sharda School of Law, Sharda University in collaboration with Adelaide Law School, Adelaide University organized it's 02 Days International Conference on Law and Contemporary Trends.

The event was presided by the Dr Pavan Duggal (Renowned Cyber Law Expert, Advocate Supreme Court of India), Dr Richard Albert (William Stamps Farish Professor in Law, Director of Constitutional Studies, University of Texas, Austin ), Dr Paul Babie (Bonython Chair in Law and Professor of Law, Adelaide Law School, University of Adelaide ,Australia) Dr Leone Neudorf (Professor and Deputy Dean of Law ,La Torbe Law School, La Torbe  University,Melbourne ,Australia ) and Prof.Sibaram Khara (Vice Chancellor, Sharda University) who have shared their valuable knowledge and insights with us.

The inaugural session was followed by technical sessions where more than 100 research papers were presented by Research Scholars , Academicians and Industry Experts.

02 Days National Conference On “Critical Issues & Challenges of Elderly in India-The Path Ahead" in Collaboration with National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) Govt. of India on 21th – 22th March 2023.

Sharda School of law, Sharda University, in Collaboration with National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) Govt. of India organized two Days National Conference On “Critical Issues & Challenges of Elderly in India-The Path Ahead" on 21th – 22th March 2023. Objectives of the Conference: To explore a contextual overview of the problems and challenges related to senior citizens. To create awareness on Social, Physiological, Economic, Legal, Mobility, Security concerns and health issues related to elderly. To give a contextual overview of the problems and challenges related to geriatric care in India.  To provide a larger national background of challenges /issues faced by Ageing due to westernization, demographic, class and other associated changes in family structure. To review key interventional paradigms, techniques and practices, and to initiate a multi-stakeholder discussion on resolving the challenges related to ageing.

Sharda School of Law, Sharda University, Centre for Excellence in Emerging Legal Issues (CLI) organised two days “National Conference on Personal Data Protection and the Legal Framework in India (Online Mode)” on  4th and 5th November, 2022. The main objectives of this conference were-1)To highlight the gaps in the provisions under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its Allied Rules on data protection.2)  To compare the framework for the protection of data protection in India, other countries, and European Union.3) To suggest possible suggestions, modifications, amendments, alternatives for data-protection regime in India.4)  To delineate the scope of personal liberty as expounded by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India.5)   To synthesize the human liberty in the provisions of proposed Data Protection Bill in the context of the degree of social developments in India and World. National Seminar on “Women Empowerment: Socio-Legal Challenges in the 21st Century

School of Law, Sharda University organized a National Seminar on “Women Empowerment: Socio-Legal Challenges in the 21st Century on Friday, January 31, 2020.In this National Seminar, papers from leading law Schools of India were presented by academicians, researchers, and students from all over India. Key note speakers for the event were Hon’ble Shri. Justice Dipak Misra (Former Chief Justice of India),Hon’ble Mr. Justice Satish Chandra, (Former Judge, High Court of Allahabad) and Dr. Chandra Rajan (Advocate, Supreme Court of India)..

Workshop on Human Rights

School of Law, Sharda University organized a Workshop on Human Rights on Tuesday, February 4, 2020. The workshop on human rights is organized in collaboration with Youth for Human Rights India. Youth for Human Rights International teaches human rights education both in the classroom and in non-traditional educational settings. The workshop was aimed at spreading information about human rights and helping students understand the importance of human rights in today’s scenario.

Workshop on CV Writing

School Law, Sharda University organized a CV Writing session on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 for final year students to prepare them for placement and making them industry ready to prepare them for interviews and group interviews.

Symposium on Child Rights Activism

Child Rights Activism and intervention to rescue children from slavery and jails changed India’s national law to forbid detention of delinquent children in jails. With a view to create awareness about child rights School of Law, Sharda University is organizing a “Symposium on Child rights” on Friday, 18th January, 2019. The School of Law was fortunate to have Ms. Sheela Barse, one of the pioneers of Public Interest Litigation in India bringing women prisoner’s issues in public domain as speaker for the event. She is Winner of Awards for Focus on Child Rights issues and also Journalism for Human Rights Early protagonist of Girl Child and later was associated as Member of Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s Advisory Committee.

National Conference on Alternate Dispute Resolution

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) refers to a set of practices and techniques aimed at permitting the resolution of legal disputes outside the courts. It is encompasses mediation, arbitration, and a variety of "hybrid" processes by which a neutral facilitates the resolution of legal disputes without formal adjudication. School of Law organized a National Conference on "Alternative Dispute Resolution: Emerging Issues" on Friday, 22nd February, 2019.

Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights

School of Law, Sharda University organized a workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights": on Monday, 04th March 2019. The Speaker was Mr. Tarun Khurana (Partner and Patent Attorney), IIPRD, Khurana & Khurana, Advocates, and IP Attorneys, who has over 14 years of experience in a broad range of Intellectual Property subject matters. Tarun has executed numerous assignments related to exercises of Patent Portfolio Creation, Protection, Valuation and Commercialization for corporates ranging from Small Start-ups to Fortune 5 companies.

Symposium on Gender Equality And Women Empowerment

With a view to create awareness about the rights of women, and in view of its duty as an agent of social law, School of Law, Sharda University organized a “Symposium on Gender Equality and Women Empowerment” on Friday, 8th March, 2019. The School of Law was fortunate to have Prof. Moolchand Sharma and Dr. Pawan Sharma, both distinguished visionaries and activists for women rights in the country as the guest speakers for the event. They were joined by Mrs. Justice Neelu Mainwal (Senior Civil Judge and Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Gautam Buddha Nagar), Dr. Manish Jindal (Dean, SMSR) and Dr. Rainu Gupta (Dean, School of Education) who spoke of their experiences as veritable champions of women equality in their own fields.

Mock Parliament

The School of Law, Sharda University organized a Mock Parliament on the Ram Janma Bhoomi issue on 12th March, 2019. The unique format of the event allowed students to articulate their opinions about the issue, similar to the proceeding in a Parliament.

4th Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Moot Court Competition, 2019

The fourth edition of the Anand Swaroop Memorial National Moot Court Competition, the flagship annual event for the School of Law, Sharda University was organized by School of Law, Sharda University from 4th to 6th April, 2019. The renounced Judges of Supreme Court & High court shared their experience as a Lawyer and Judge. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Dipak Misra, Former Chief Justice of India & Hon’ble Mr. Justice Swatanbter Kumar, Formerly Judge, Supreme Court of India and Chairman, National Green Tribunal was the  Chief Guest of Inaugural and Valedictory sessions They addressed about relevancy  of Moot Court in academics as a practical exposure and its importance in future to budding lawyers. They also gave a light about the moot problem based on breakdown of constitutional machinery in the state. The three day event had pan-India teams advocating both sides of a fictitious issue, in a simulated courtroom environment. The activity was designed to prepare them for life in a courtroom and careers in litigation.In a formidable display of top-notch research and argumentive skill, the student team from DSNLU were unanimously adjudged the Best Team (Overall) and the students from Campus Law Centre Delhi won the runners up position. They take home a cash prize of Rs. 50000 and RS. 25000. The prizes for best speakers were won by Jeyaram Thitumalai from CLC Delhi and Anjani Harika from DSNLU Vishakhapatnam. The award for best memorial was snagged by RGNUL, Patiala.

Faculty Development Programme on ‘Innovative Teaching Learning Methods and Research in Law’- 2019

School of Law, Sharda University organized the 3rd Edition of Faculty Development Programme on ‘Innovative Teaching Learning Methods and Research in Law’ from 15-20 July, 2019. Expert speakers, from all over the nation, discussed the intricacies of legal pedagogy and research, while identifying the gaps and suggesting reforms.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. Upendra Baxi, Emeritus Professor of Law, University of Warwick, UK, & Distinguished Professor, NLU Delhi and Former Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi. This six-day Faculty Development Programme was addressed by galaxy of legal luminaries like  Prof. Mool Chand Sharma, Distinguished Professor of Law in University of Delhi, Former Member of the Law Commission of India, Vice-Chairperson, University Grants Commission (UGC), Vice Chancellor(Founder), Central University of Haryana, Interim Dean, School of Law, BML Munjal  University, Gurgoan;  Prof. Nuzhat Parveen Khan, Former Dean, Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi; Prof. Ved Kumari, Former Dean & Head Faculty of Law, University of Delhi; Prof. B.T. The Valedictory Session was held on 20th July, 2019 and the Chief Guest on the occasion, Prof. Manoj Kumar Sinha, Director, Indian Law Institute, Delhi discussed issues of human rights and international law in a globalizing world while throwing light upon the leading theorists in legal jurisprudence and recent developments.

Orientation Programme for budding Lawyers (Batch 2019-24)

On August 16, 2019, the School of Law, Sharda University, held a week-long orientation programme for students of the incoming first year batch. Hon’ble Shri Justice L Narasimha Reddy, Chairman, Central Administrative Tribunal, Delhi, was the Chief Guest in SOL Orientation Programme. The orientation included various cultural programs as well as introduction by faculty to certain subjects. Students were also given an Anti-Ragging disclaimer as well as introduction to the various projects and departments in the school.It was intended to give the students a smooth transition from their school life to adulthood.

Mock Parliament on “The DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, 2019”

School of Law, Sharda University organized a MOCK PARLIAMENT on “The DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, 2019” on Friday, August 30, 2019 in order to debate upon and argue about the “The DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, 2019”. The purpose of organizing the Parliamentary simulation is instilling the idea of Free Speech and Expression, through debate based on socio-political and legal issues of the country as well as to enhance the skills of the participants, relating to research and public speaking.

Intra-Legal Quizzard

School of Law, Sharda University organised an Intra Legal Quizzard on September 12-13, 2019. The Quiz competition was sponsored by LegalSutra law firm. The chief guests of the competition were the Advocate Vinod Kaushik, Managing Director of Legal Sutra firm. Thirty teams from the School of Law participated.

National Conference on "Alternative Dispute Resolution: Emerging Issues"

School of Law organized 3rd National Conference on "Alternative Dispute Resolution: Emerging Issues" on October 11, 2019. Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is an alternative to the formal legal system. It is an alternative to litigation. Arbitration, Mediation, Negotiation, Conciliation, Lok Adalat, Settlement etc. are the various methods for settling disputes which have received worldwide recognition and are applied successfully, as they settle disputes in speedy and amicable manner. The Chief Guest in the Inaugural Session was Hon'ble Mr. Justice A.K. Sikri, Judge, Singapore International Commercial Court and Former Judge, Supreme Court of India. The Chief Guest in the Valedictory Session was Hon’ble Mr. Justice Pradeep Kumar Srivastava, Judge, High Court of Allahabad, U.P.

National Seminar on “Confronting Gender-Based Violence in the Contemporary World: Current & Emerging Issues”

School of Law organized a National Seminar on “Confronting Gender-Based Violence in the Contemporary World: Current & Emerging Issues” on November 1, 2019.The event was conducted to raise awareness on the issue of gender-violence and analyze the causes and factors responsible for gender violence. The National Seminar was a remarkable step in achieving these objectives as it intended to conclude the suggestions proposed and submit them to the National Women Commission to further action.

Novice Moot Court Competition

With the aim to familiarize students with real world lawyering in terms of court procedure, drafting submissions and delivering oral arguments, The School of Law organised a Novice Moot Court Competition on 4-5 November, 2019.

National Youth Day Celebration

On Friday,12 January, 2018, Sharda University, School of Law celebrated in Auditorium 005, Block 3 at 1:30 PM on the auspicious occasion of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanandji.  HH Dr. Charudatta Pingale, MS(ENT) recipient of  'Jivan Gourav Award' enlightened the gathering about --Chanting Technique to Attain Calmness of Mind. Sh. Yogacharya Bipin Joshi, unconditional supporter of economically weaker sections of the society talked about his project, World Peace Mission.  Also, highly decorated soldier with Sena Medal and Vishishth Seva Medal, and Recipient of many Social awards, Retd. Col. Ashok  Kini,  Founder member of Faith Foundation to delivered a  Talk on  Kalam and his spiritual life.  Mr. Siddharth from IIT Delhi also addressed the gathering and shared his experience of being associated with Ramkrishna Mission.

School of Law, Sharda University organized on Friday19th January, 2018 the National Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights: Issues and Challenges organized in collaborations with Cell for IPR Promotions and Management (CIPAM), DIPP, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India.The inaugural session was chaired by distinguished guest and speakers namely Padamshri Prof. Upendra Baxi, former Vice Chancellor of University of Delhi, Prof. B.S. Chimni, former Vice Chancellor National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, Shri P.K. Malhotra, former Law Secretary, Government of India and Prof. Alka Chawla, University of Delhi.

International Conference on Alternate Dispute Resolution: Issues and challenges 

On Friday 16th February, 2018SOL organized the International Conference on Alternate Dispute Resolution: Issues and challenges.  The Chief Guest was Hon’ble Mr. Justice A. R. Dave, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India and the Guest of Honor was H.E. Major General Chris S. Eze (Retd.), High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The other distinguished speakers were Shri P.K.Malhotra, Former Law Secretary,  Hon’ble Dr. T.R. Naval, Chairman, Lok Adalat, and Delhi. Thereafter two parallel technical sessions were chaired by imminent people from the industry and academia. In these sessions around 80 research papers were presented by the participants hailing from different universities.

Symposium on the topic “I am a woman”

On 6th March 2018, Symposium on the topic “I am a woman: the challenges of women in today’s Social & Cultural settings” was organized by School of Law (SOL) Sharda University, Greater Noida. The lecture was chaired by Mrs. Sushma Sahu (Senior Member, National Commission of Women, New Delhi), Dr Rajshree Singh, IPS, IG, State Crime Branch, Haryana, Ms Suniti Singh,IPS (SP RA,Gautam Budh Nagar.) ,Ms Shweta Kothari (BBC Scotland, Huffington Post, NDTV, IBN 7, CNBC-TV18, Republic World), Dr. Ekta chaudhry,Prof.& Head of the department,SUSDS and  Chair Person of Internal Complaint Committee, Sharda University.

National Law Debate Competition on the topic 'One Nation One Election'.

On Friday, 09 March 2018, School of Law organized the National Law debate competition on the topic 'One Nation One Election'. Twenty-two teams participated in the competition from various Universities of India. Learned Shri R.B. Sharma, President, District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Gautam Budh Nagar was the Chief Guest on the occasion and gave away the awards.

Intra Client Counselling Competition

On 13th March 2018,School of Law organized Intra Client Counselling Competition. The Client Counseling Competition promotes greater knowledge and interest among law students in the preventative law and counseling functions of law practice. It also encourages students to develop interviewing, planning, and analytical skills in the lawyer-client relationship in the law office. Interviewing and advising are a significant part of most lawyers’ work. Too often, it is assumed that lawyers have the listening and questioning skills needed to conduct an effective interview. Regrettably, not all lawyers possess these skills. The Competition provides an opportunity for a valuable educational and cultural interchange between students, law teachers, and legal practitioners.

3rd Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Moot Court competition- 2018

The School of Law organized 3rd Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Moot Court competition 2018 on 5-7 April, 2018, the prestigious competition among law students of India is a major event of Sharda University. It provides practical exposure to law students. It shows about relevancy of Moot Court in academics and its importance in future to budding lawyers. The renounced Judges of Supreme Court & High court shared their experience as a Lawyer and Judge. They described how a judge should be a human being. Hon’ble Justice A.K.Sikri, Judge Supreme Court of India, & Shri Ram Jethmalani,Senior Advocate, Supreme Court & Former Law Minister & Urban Development Minister Chief Guest of Valedictory and Inaugural session addressed about relevancy  of Moot Court in academics as a practical exposure and its importance in future to budding lawyers. They also gave a light about the moot problem based on breakdown of constitutional machinery in the state.

Tribute to the father of Indian Constitution Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

On Friday, 13 April 2018, Legal Aid Center, School of Law, Sharda University in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority, Gautam Budh Nagar  payed tribute to the father of Indian Constitution Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, in recognition of his invaluable contribution in the making of modern India and  in ensuring access to justice to the marginalized section of society.  Hon’ble Chief Guest Learned Shri. Pradeep Kumar Srivastava, District & Sessions Judge cum Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Gautam Budh Nagar address students in this session.

 

Faculty Development Programme on ‘Innovative Teaching Learning Methods and Research in Law’ 2018

School of Law, Sharda University, organised a five-day Faculty Development Programme, from 16th-20th July, 2018.On the inaugural session, we had Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Vice-Chancellor, National Law University, Delhi and on the valediction session, we had Prof. Manoj Kumar Sinha, Director, Indian Law Institute. He discussed about how participants should focus on writing good papers with proper research and focus on new emerging areas of law.

Workshop on ‘Moot Courts Techniques’

As a part of experiential learning, School of Law, Sharda University organized workshop on ‘Moot Courts Techniques’ by Mr. Piyush Beriwal, Advocate and Associate at Office of Additional Solicitor General of India on Friday, 7th September 2018. The object of event was to give the students thorough knowledge of Moot Courts Techniques and tools and to acquaint students with procedural aspect of Moot Courts.

Workshop cum awareness session on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace

On 11th September 2018 School of Law organized a workshop cum awareness session on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace under the instructions and guidance of Dr. Ekta Chaudhary, Chairperson, Internal Complaint Committee (ICC), Sharda University. To sensitize students about what words, actions, conduct or behavior may amount to sexual harassment; also spread awareness about University's 'no tolerance policy’ for sexual harassment. The students were acquainted about the Internal Complaint Committee guidelines on matters of sexual harassment. The objective of this session is aimed to be achieved through Role plays, Skits, Posters, Presentations followed by Discussions and Question Answer session.

On Thursday, 25th October, 2018 School of Law, Sharda University and District Legal services Authority, Gautam Budh Nagar organised a workshop on Young People and Mental Health: Issues & Challenges.The event began by lightning the lamp by the invited guest which included the Chief Guest Ms. Neelu Mainwal (Civil Judge, Senior Division cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Gautam Budh Nagar), Ms. Chhavi Goyal (Motivational Speaker), Ms. Sangeeta Mitra (Director, Dept. of Psychological Rehabilitation, Shanti Home, NGO), Dr. Rupali Shivalkar (Consultant Psychiatrist Shanti Hospital, Dr. Shruti Sharma (Consultant Psychiatrist Sharda Hospital).

The Key Note speakers were Prof. (Dr.) Saleem Akhtar, Former Dean AMU, Mr. Rodney D. Ryder, Advisor to the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Government of India and Ms Isha Sharma, Director Trayambak Overseas Pvt Ltd. Prof. (Dr.) Saleem Akhtar discussed various aspects of copyright issues.

Nationalwide Competition on Legal Rights of Women in Collaboration with National Commision of Women, New Delhi

On 30th October 2018, School of Law has organised a Nationalwide Competition on Legal Rights of Women on where in 60 students participated. The event objective was to check and spread Awareness  among students about Legal Rights of Women listed under various national and International Laws & Conventions. Rs. 28,500 was granted by National Commision of Wowmen, New Delhi to School of Law for this Completion.

National Seminar on Human Rights and Criminal Justice System in India

On Friday, 20thNovember 2018, School of Law, Sharda University, organized a National Seminar on Human Rights and Criminal Justice System in India. The event saw dignitaries such as Hon’ble Shri H.R. Bhardwaj (Former Union Cabinet Minister of Law & Justice, Government of India, former Governor of Karnataka), Hon’ble Prof. S. K. Bhatnagar (Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ram Manohar National Law University, Lucknow), Hon’ble Dr. Vikram Singh (I.P.S, Former Director General of Police, U.P.) who convened the event, also graced the august gathering. The seminar provided an avenue where law professionals, academicians, practitioners, research scholars, students, NGO’s, social activists and students can exchange their knowledge/ideas and experiences and in turn can learn more about the recent trends and developments in Human Rights & Criminal Justice System in India.

School of Law organized 2nd Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Moot Court Competition on 5-7 April, 2017. It was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mr. Vinay Kumar Mathur, Former Judge, High Court of Allahabad & Former Chairman of Foreign Exchange Appellate Tribunal. 60 Teams from all over India participated in the event. Mr. Salman Khurshid, Sr. Advocate, Supreme Court of India & Former Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs was the Chief Guest in Valedictory session. The Objectives of practices is that thestudents would learn how to research, defend their clients and argue their cases. They would also understand the nuances of the legal process, formal lawsuits, learn drafting and develop teamwork skills

‘1st Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Moot Court Competition’ from 7th-9th, April 2016, with long list of prizes worth more than Rs. 1 Lakh. Total 33 Teams from leading National Law Universities and other premier Universities participated in this prestigious National Moot Court Competition. Hon’ble Mr. Justice B.P. Singh, Former Judge, Supreme Court inaugurated the event. Hon’ble Mr. Justice PC Pant, Judge, Supreme Court of India was the Chief Guest in the Valedictory Session. He asked the students to ensure that their conduct enhanced the prestige of the legal profession. He further emphasized that the students should keep the interest of institutions above their self interest. After grueling preliminary and semifinal rounds, team of University Law College, Bangalore comprising of Speaker 1 Ms Apoorva Majakar, Speaker 2 Ms Prathika Jayram and Researcher Ms Bindushree P was adjudged as Winner and team from Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law, Meerut comprising of Speaker 1 Ms Aishwarya Chaudhry, Speaker 2 Ms Prachi Johri and Researcher Mr Shobit Garg was adjudged runners up and cash award of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25000 was given to the winning and runners up team respectively. A trip to Agra-“City of Taj’ was also organized for the participants.

On 3rd August 2016, the Orientation Programme for new batch (2016-21) was inaugurated by lightening the lamp and prayer of Goddess Saraswati by the Chief Guest Hon’ble Mr. Justice Markandey katju, Former Judge of Supreme Court of India & President Press Council of India for the commencement of new academic session. The Chief Guest gave a detailed speech on the topic Constitutional Jurisprudence.

The Conference theme was “BETI BACHAO, BETI PADHAO”. The poster for the same was also released by the Guests. AICHLS honoured Sharda University for making important contribution in the field of higher education and felicitated toppers of every batch.

International Seminar on ‘American Constitutional and Administrative Law Perspectives’ was organized on 09th, September, 2016. The Guest speakers Dr. Judd Mathew, Assistant Professor, Penn State University, USA and Prof. (Major General) Nilendra Kumar,   Ex-director Amity Law School, Noida shared their views and knowledge by delivering the lectures on the subject of constitution in India and in America. Dr. Judd gave detailed and extensive view of American Constitution and the functionaries under it.

National Legal Service Day Celebration

National Legal Service Day was celebrated on 9th November 2016.  The speakers in the conference were Mr. Justice P.S.Narayana, Member, Mahadayi River Water Dispute Tribunal,New Delhi (Chief Guest on this occasion) and Professor M. Afzal Wani, Professor & Dean, University School of Law & Legal Studies, GGS Indraprastha University, Delhi (Guest of Honour). The Speakers focused the need of free legal education to all section of society. The speakers gave detailed and extensive view of Constitution and the functionaries under it. They also emphasized about role & working of National Legal Service Authority. They told that needy and indigent person can get free legal advice and service of lawyer who cannot afford lawyer.

Moot Court

The Mooting is a form of oral presentation of arguments based on a constructed moot problem. The student participants are exposed to mock trial, which gives real life learning experience to enhance practical knowledge pertaining to various laws. The objective of this activity is to allow them to learn these laws beyond the classroom set-up.

School of Law, Sharda University, has devoted time in its annual calendar for National Moot Court Competition to be held every year. It has also dedicated space for the construction of a Moot Court Room, which is made to look like a real life courtroom.  In this exercise students take part in simulated court which involves drafting of memorials or memoranda and participating in oral arguments. The moot court competitions are judged by the professors, lawyers and serving judges. The focus is on the application of the law to a common set of evidentiary assumptions, facts, clarifications and corrections to which the competitors are introduced.

National Moot Court Competition

7th Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial International Moot Court Competition from 16th to 18th March, 2023

Sharda School of Law, Sharda University organized 7th Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial International Moot Court Competition from 16th to 18th March, 2023 in collaboration with Competition Commission of India, Maadhyam, Supreme Court Cases (SCC) online, Eastern Book Company (EBC), Knowledgesteez and Pahuja Law Academy.

The competition saw the participation of 53 national and international teams from leading Universities and Colleges from across the country. Several rounds of the competition were judged by panel of expert comprising of academicians, prominent professionals and other legal luminaries. Team from Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla were declared as winners and Runners Up position was bagged by team from Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad.

 

Intra Moot Competition 2022 on 31st  August- 2nd  September 2022

Sharda School of Law organised Intra Moot Competition 2022 on 31st  August- 2nd  September for the students of SSOL to sharpen their research skills and advocacy. The convenors of the event were – Prof.Komal Vig, Associate Dean SSOL, Dr. Bhumika Sharma, Assistant Professor SSOL. Judges of the competition were Ph.D. Research Scholar, Sharda School of law, Sharda University, Advocates of Supreme Court of India, High Court of Delhi, High Court of J&K. and other legal Practitioner.

 

 

6th Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial Virtual International Moot Court Competition,          31st March to 2nd April 2022
Sharda University School of Law (SSOL) hosted the 6th Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial Virtual International Moot Court Competition from 31st March to 2nd April 2022, from 9:00 AM to 06:00 PM. The competition witnessed the participation of several teams from law schools across the globe.

The inaugural session had the presence of Hon’ble Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founding Chancellor, Rishihood University, Sonipat, Haryana, and Senior Advocate Shri Vikas Singh, President, Supreme Court Bar Association, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi.

The valedictory session of the competition was graced by Hon’ble Shri Satya Pal Singh Baghel, Minister of State for Law and Justice, Government of India, and Hon’ble Shri Justice Pradeep Kumar Srivastava, Chairman Law Commission, Lucknow.

The competition was a great platform for law students to showcase their advocacy skills and legal knowledge. The event provided participants with the opportunity to learn from some of the most distinguished personalities in the legal fraternity.

 

2nd Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial Virtual National Moot Court Competition 2021          Wed 24th - Fri 26th November 2021

The 2nd Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial Virtual National Moot Court Competition 2021 was held from Wednesday 24th to Friday 26th November 2021 at SSOL. The event was graced by Padma Shri Awardee Hon’ble Professor Upendra Baxi, Professor Emeritus, University of Warwick, United Kingdom and Formerly Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi and University of South Gujarat.

The competition provided a great platform for law students to showcase their advocacy skills and legal knowledge at a national level. Participants had the opportunity to learn from and interact with esteemed legal personalities, making it a valuable learning experience for all involved.

 

Intra Moot Court Competition-2021      16th to 18th of August 2021

The Intra Moot Court Competition-2021 was held from 16th to 18th of August 2021 at SSOL, starting at 12:30 pm. The event was supported by Prof. Pradeep Kulshrestha, Dean, School of Law, who served as the Event Patron.

The competition was organized by Dr. Nituja Singh, Assistant Professor at SSOL, and Mr. Shubham Kumar, Assistant Professor at SSOL. The event provided students with the opportunity to showcase their legal knowledge and advocacy skills in a competitive setting. It was a great learning experience for all the participants and helped in enhancing their practical understanding of legal concepts.

SSOL organized the Intra-Moot Court Competition 2021 from 6th to 8th April 2021, starting at 11:00 am and ending at 04:00 pm. The event was led by Convener Prof. Pradeep Kulshrestha, Dean of SSOL, and coordinated by Dr. Nituja Singh, Assistant Professor at SSOL.

5th Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial Virtual International Moot Court Competition, 2021 18th-20th March 2021

SSOL conducted the 5th Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial Virtual International Moot Court Competition from 18th to 20th March 2021, starting at 09:35 AM. The event witnessed the presence of notable legal luminaries such as Senior Advocate Vikas Singh, President of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), and Hon’ble Ms. Indira Banerjee, Judge, Supreme Court of India, in the Inaugural and Valedictory Sessions, respectively.

The competition provided a platform for law students to showcase their legal knowledge and advocacy skills in a simulated courtroom environment. The event witnessed the participation of teams from various universities across the country, and the competition was highly competitive. Overall, the event was a resounding success and helped in honing the practical understanding of legal concepts among students.

Dr. Huma B. Khan Memorial Virtual Intra Moot Court Competition -2020 11th November 2020

SSOL organized the Dr. Huma B. Khan Memorial Virtual Intra Moot Court Competition on 11th November 2020, starting from 12 PM onwards. Mr. H.K. Tiwari, Assistant Professor at the School of Law, Sharda University, served as the coordinator for the event.

The competition aimed to provide law students with an opportunity to showcase their legal skills and knowledge through simulated court proceedings. The event witnessed active participation from students, who presented their arguments on a variety of legal issues. The competition was a success, and it helped students to develop their advocacy skills and practical understanding of legal concepts.

1st Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Virtual Moot Court Competition, 2020 

Amidst pandemic ridden society, School of Law, Sharda University as a part of online teaching learning had organized its 1st Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Virtual Moot Court Competition, 2020 from 27th to 29th of May, 2020. Virtual mooting helped continue the process of teaching and learning and imparting the requisite skills for prospective learners hailing from the field of law. The three-day event witnessed participation from a number of teams coming together and competing to exhibit their exceptional skills at raising arguments and rebuttals.This one of its kind virtual moot court competition was commenced by the participation of various teams across the nation. The inaugural session was attended by Chief Guest Hon'ble Mr. Justice Pradeep Kumar Srivastava (Judge, Allahabad High Court). The preliminary, semi-final and final rounds were judged via video conferencing by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Pradeep Kumar Srivastava (Judge, Allahabad High Court), Hon’ble Mr. Justice Talwant Singh (Judge, High Court of Delhi), Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjay Kumar (Judge, Patna High Court), Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Tandon (Chairman of Uttarakhand Law Commission), Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rakesh Tiwari (Former Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court), Learned Dr TR Naval (Chairman, Permanent Lok Adalat, Delhi), Dr. Manoj Kumar (Founder Partner at Hammurabi & Solomon Law Associates, Delhi), Ms. Shweta Bharti (Senior Partner at Hammurabi & Solomon Law Associates, Delhi) and other learned judicial officers. The event concluded with the Valedictory session on Friday 29 May 2020. It was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul (Judge, Supreme Court of India) as Chief Guest. His Lordship appreciated the online teaching learning initiative at Sharda University during the period of lockdown in the country. He also emphasized on developing the mooting skills which helps the students to learn in a realistic way. He suggested that we should make continuous efforts to keep pace with ever evolving law. He pointed out the risk of falling of  information into wrong hands as an abuse of social media in the context of maintaining the balance of freedom of speech and expression. Further he focused on the mooting skills which enables the advocates to read the mind of the judges and develop new thinking process. The discussion should evolve around the contemporary legal issues which is the need of the hour while keeping in mind the doctrine of basic structure of the Indian Constitution. Lastly he congratulated the winning teams and the organizers who strived hard to bring out a massive event to life, via video conferencing. Hon’ble Shri PK Gupta, Chancellor, Sharda University expressed his happiness on organizing the virtual moot court and averred that online teaching learning is the new normal. He also emphasized on importance of face to face interaction as online interaction lack personal rapport and liveliness. He wished the participants good luck for their future.  Hon’ble Shri YK Gupta, Pro-Chancellor, Sharda University wished participants well and expressed his optimism about improved situation in few months and said that Online classes have ensured quality teaching learning. 4th Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Moot Court Competition, 4th to 6th April, 2019

The fourth edition of the Anand Swaroop Memorial National Moot Court Competition, the flagship annual event for the School of Law, Sharda University was organized by School of Law, Sharda University from 4th to 6th April, 2019. The renounced Judges of Supreme Court & High court shared their experience as a Lawyer and Judge. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Dipak Misra (Former Chief Justice of India) was the Chief Guest at Inaugural session and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Swatanbter Kumar (Former Judge, Supreme Court of India and Chairman, National Green Tribunal) was the  Chief Guest of the Valedictory session.

They addressed about relevancy  of Moot Court in academics as a practical exposure and its importance in future to budding lawyers. They also gave a light about the moot problem based on breakdown of constitutional machinery in the state. The three day event had pan-India teams. In a formidable display of top-notch research and argumentative skill, the student team from DSNLU were unanimously adjudged as the Best Team (Overall) and the students from Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi won the runners up position. They took home a cash prize of Rs. 50000 and RS. 25000. The prizes for best speakers were won by Jeyaram Thitumalai from CLC, University of Delhi and Anjani Harika from DSNLU Vishakhapatnam. The award for best memorial was snagged by RGNUL, Patiala.

3rd Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Moot Court Competition, 5-7 April, 2018

The School of Law organized 3rd Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Moot Court competition 2018 since 5-7 April 2018. Honble Justice A.K. Sikri (Judge Supreme Court of India) and Shri Ram Jethmalani (Senior Advocate, Supreme Court & Former Law Minister & Urban Development Minister) was Chief Guest of Valedictory and Inaugural sessions respectively. They pointed out to the young students, the relevance of  hard work and self discipline to succeed in life.  The preliminary round of moot court competition was adjudged by renowned judges and legal expert. The semifinal and final rounds were adjudged by Honble Justice Rakesh Tiwari (former Chief Justice Calcutta high court) and Honble Justice P.S. Narayan (former Justice, High Court, Andhra Pradesh). The winning team-Amity law school, Noida and runner up team- Gujarat National Law University, were distributed trophies and certificates by the Chief Guest. Mr. S.Kaushik from Sastra University bagged award for best mooter in male category and Ms. Srujan from Sastra University bagged award for best mooter in female category. Best memorial was awarded to UPES Deharadun. All the dignitaries praised for successful organization of national moot court event

The 2nd Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Moot Court competition was organized on 5-7 April 2017. It was inaugurated by Honble Justice Mr. Vinay Kr. Mathur (Former Judge, High Court of Allahabad & Former Chairman of Foreign Exchange Appellate Tribunal). Almost 60 teams from all over India participated in the event. The Judges from leading Universities came and judged the event. Mr. Salman Khurshid (Sr. Advocate, Supreme Court of India and former Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) was the Chief Guest for the function. The organizing committee made provisions for the participating teams to visit Agra, Taj Mahal on the conclusion of the competition.

Ist Anand Gupta Memorial National Moot Court Competition from 7th-9th, April 2016

The Sharda University School of Law is the prestigious Law School of Greater Noida. With an objective to raise the standards of Legal Skill and practical standards among Law students in India, School of Law organized first edition of Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Moot Court Competition from 7th-9th, April 2016, with long list of prizes worth more than Rs. 1 Lakh. It provided an opportunity to the students to hone their mooting skills. Total 33 Teams from leading National Law Universities and other premier Universities participated in this prestigious National Moot Court Competition. Honble Mr. Justice BP Singh (Former Judge, Supreme Court) inaugurated the event. After grueling preliminary and semifinal rounds, team of University Law College, Bangalore comprising of Speaker 1- Ms Apoorva Majakar, Speaker 2- Ms Prathika Jayram and Researcher Ms Bindushree P was adjudged as Winner and team from Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law, Meerut comprising of Speaker 1- Ms Aishwarya Chaudhry, Speaker 2- Ms Prachi Johri and Researcher Mr Shobit Garg was adjudged runners up and cash award of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25000 was given to the winning and runners up team respectively. A trip to Agra City of Taj was also organized for the participants. Honble Mr. Justice PC Pant, Judge (Supreme Court of India) was the Chief Guest in the Valedictory Session. He asked the students to ensure that their conduct enhanced the prestige of the legal profession. He further emphasized that the students should keep the interest of institutions above their self interest.

School of Law, Sharda University organized students visit to District & Session Court, Gautam Budh Nagar on Saturday, 07th March, 2020. The primary objective of this visit is to facilitate student’s interaction with Lawyers, litigants and Judges and to inculcate firsthand knowledge and practical functioning of the substantive and procedural laws to the students. The outcome is to understand Socio-Legal Issues of various stakeholders, to learn court craft & etiquettes and the student shall get knowledge of soft communication skills which will prepare them to cope with nuances of litigation

Free Legal Aid and Community Connect Programme

School of Law organized a visit to conduct a survey in Government primary school, Village: Ghanori, Bilaspur, GB Nagar, UP on Saturday, February 15, 2020. The objective of this camp was to impart legal awareness and literacy basic about Primary Health care and quality of education. Donate stationary items to the students and to discuss Fundamental Rights and fundamental Duties. The expected outcome was that the students would be able to know about the various rights related to primary education available to children. They will be able to approach the responsible authorities in the time of necessity if such a need arises.

Free Legal Aid Camp

School of Law organized a 'Free Legal Aid Camp' in District Prison, Greater Noida on Saturday, January 18, 2020, wherein Faculty and students from School of Law provided Free Legal advice and donated law books for Prison Library.After meeting Prison Authorities and inmates the students shall learn about rights of the Prisoners and other aspects of the rehabilitation system.

Community Connect Programme & Free Legal Aid Camp

School of Law, Sharda University organized a Community Connect Programme and Free Legal Aid Camp at the Old Age Home on Friday, 15th March, 2019. The Objective was to enable the students to acquire an experience of the trials and tribulations of the elderly, and to resolve their legal concerns, if any. The Camp was also aimed at ensuring the sensitization of students to the ‘vulnerable’ community and their duty as part of this noble profession.

Community Connect Programme & Free Legal Aid Camp

As part of the Community Connect Programme, School of Law, Sharda University organized a Faculty & Students visit to District & Session Court, Gautam Budh Nagar on Wednesday, September 4, 2019. The co-ordinator for the programme was Mr. Karmashil Bhagat, who has been helming the project since its very inception. Over the past few months, the community connect has grown bigger and more consistent with the ability to reach out to the grassroot population.

Free Medico-Legal Aid Camp

As part of Community Connect Programme, School of Law along with School of Medical Sciences and Research and School of Dental Sciences organized Free Legal cum Medical camp in District Prison, Luksar, Gautam Budh Nagar on September 13, 2019. The Jail Superintendent Shri Vipin Mishra, Jailor Shri Satya Prakash and Shri AK Singh interacted with Faculty and students.  The Team of six dentists under Dr Kuldeep conducted oral health checks in mobile dental van and distributed 100 dental health kits containing mouth wash tooth paste and toothbrush. The Team of four Doctors under Dr. Shreya conducted medical checkup of women inmates and distributed free medicines. The Law faculty and students interacted with inmates and their general concerns were quality of investigation, protracted trial and free legal aid.  Students also gifted stationary items and chocolates to the children of women inmates.

School of Law,Sharda University, along with the NGO Sankalp conducted an event on the theme "Role of NGO in Society in Resolving Legal Disputes (Why Youth Should Work With It)" in collaboration with Mahila Shakti Samajik Samiti and District Legal Services Authority, Gautam Buddha Nagar on Thursday, September 19, 2019.

Some of the issues which were deliberated were right to education Act, Mid-day meal and other government schemes. The students were able, not only to identify the issues faced but also proposed a viable course of further action.

The students had, in a previous visit, identified the issues faced by the village persons and in this visit, they were able to provide help through the donation of stationery for the school children as well as sports equipment, etc. Interestingly, the students of the School of Law are also helping the village children with a science project.

On Wednesday, 14 March, 2018 School of Law organized a Free Legal Aid Camp on towards fulfilling its mandate on imparting legal education and community services at J.S Adarsh School, Village: Birondi (Chakrsenpur), Gautam Budh Nagar. The objective of this camp was to impart legal awareness and literacy about basic socio-legal issues which a common person encounters in day to day life. Some of the issues which were discussed were FIR, Arrest, Dowry, Child Marriages, Consumer Protection, 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao', Domestic Violence and Govt. Welfare schemes like Old Age Pensions, redressal  of water bill, electric bill  and right to education.

On October 31, 2018 as part of the Experiential Learning and Community Connect, School of Law organized a Free Legal Aid Camp for fulfilling its mandate on imparting clinical legal education and community services at Village: Birondi, Near Unitech Horizon Society, Greater Noida. The objective of this camp was to impart legal awareness and literacy about basic socio-legal issues which a common person encounters in day to day life. All issues were addressed by the students via role play and interactive speech in the Hindi Language (Considering the targeted audience) under the guidance of faculty.

School of Law, Sharda University under its Clinical Legal Education Program conducted a Free Legal Aid Camp in the village Ancher Pi, Greater Noida on Wednesday, 25.1.2017.  The objective is to provide free legal aid to the inhabitants and the awareness about the right to vote and right against domestic violence. The Camp also provided the students the practical exposure to the problems of the public and they had hands on experience on solving the realworld legal problems and client interaction. The inhabitants were very happy with the camp as they shared their legal problems and were made aware by the students about their legal rights.

Free Legal Aid camp at Village Sakipur, Gautam Budh Nagar

On Wednesday, 30.08.2017 a FreeLegal Aid camp was organised at Village Sakipur, Gautam Budh Nagar.The objectives of this practice are to provide free and competent legal services to the weaker sections of the society. This is to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen by reason of economic or other disabilities. At the same time, students are able to learn about giving advice to the needy. This in turn also leads to the development of a pro-bono mindset of the students.

Free Legal Aid Camp at Tehsil Dadri, Gautam Budh Nagar

On Thursday, 14.09.2017, School of Law organize a Legal Aid Camp at Tehsil Dadri, GB Nagar. The theme of the camp was “Right and planning of Disable person”. The camp was chaired by Smt. Neelu Menwal (Secretary of District Legal Services) accompanied by Mr. Sanjay Mishra (Tahsildaar, Dadri) Ms. Aarti Yadav Nayak (Tehsildaar). A massive discussion incorporating the rights and polices of government planning which are solely concerned with the disabled persons were entertained.

Free Legal Aid Camp at Village Dadha, Gautma Budh Nagar

On Wednesday, 31.10.2017, Legal Aid Camp at Village Dadha, Gautam Budh Nagar was organised for Law.Experiential learning would provide learning through observation and interaction by which one would make discoveries and knowledge first-hand.  A unique blend of traditional as well as experiential learning would therefore enable the student to gain experience even before formally entering the legal field as a professional.

Free Legal Literacy Camp at Kasna District Prison, Gautam Budh Nagar

School of Law in association with an NGO, Sai Centre for Socio Legal Action organized a visit to Kasna District Prison, Gautam Budh Nagar for its students on 11 September 2015. The students also conducted a legal literacy camp where they informed the inmates of prisons about their rights. It was an educative as well as interesting experience for both students and accompanying faculty members.

The purpose of this day is to spreading awareness about the social issues like poverty, exclusion, gender equality, unemployment, human rights and duties, social protection as well.  We should also make efforts to eradicate poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, child labour in order to achieve social justice and make our country developed. The theme of world day of social justice 2023 is “Overcoming Barriers and Unleashing Opportunities for Social Justice”.Respected Ashwani Dubey Sir, Advocate on Record , Supreme Court of India was the Guest of Honour for the eventbeautifully discussed the issue in the light of Constitution of India and Role of Judiciary.

Visit to Police Station

As part of the Community Connect Programme and experiential learning School of Law, Sharda University organized a Student’s visit to Police Station on Saturday, February 1, 2020. Students were encouraged to address their queries and concerns about the Indian police system to the officials at the station, which allowed them to become familiar with key concepts and issues in the justice delivery system. The students also visited the mediation centre, built in close collaboration with the School of Law, Sharda University.

Legal Fiesta

The Literary and Debating Society of School of Law, Sharda University conducted Legal Fiesta from February 5 to 6, 2020 to bring people from different surroundings to experience the beauty of culture and literature. This fest was an attempt to give students exposure and encourage them to share their work beyond the four walls of their homes or classrooms. Not only did it aim to strengthen this community/society but it also highlighted the importance of literature and culture in almost every aspect of our lives. The students of the different schools set the event on fire by their powerful performance for the winning title. Spontaneity and confidence were hallmark of the competition. The students left everyone awe-stuck as they presented their talents so effortlessly. Winners were awarded with certificates and attractive prizes

School of Law (SOL), Sharda University organized an Educational Visit to National Commission for Women New Delhi, on Friday, January 17, 2020. The aim of this visit was to provide a first-hand opportunity to the students to witness the mediation and settlement process followed by the National Commission for Women.

Visit to The Parliament

School of Law, Sharda University is imparting profound knowledge in both experiential and academic area. In continuance of this, a Parliament visit on 7th to 8th January, 2019 (during winter session) was organized for Law students to gain knowledge about Parliament proceedings and Legislation enactments.

Visit to The High Court of Delhi

School of Law, Sharda University organized a visit to the High Court of New Delhi on Monday, 28th January, 2019. The visit allowed students to become familiar with the High Court premises and encouraged them to interact with litigants and lawyers. Students responded enthusiastically and were enriched with the practical side of the profession. 

Visit to The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India

School of Law, Sharda University organized a visit to the Supreme Court of India, New Delhi on Tuesday, 29th January, 2019. The Objective was to enable the students to acquire an experience of live court proceedings of the Apex Court in India. The visit provided practical exposure to the Supreme Court proceedings and boosted the confidence of students to empower them to become successful lawyers. The visit also was targeted at instilling a sense of discipline and also to acquaint the students with court etiquettes.

Participation in Law, Justice & Judicial Power Justice: P. N. Bhagwati’s Approach Conference

As part of the experiential learning, School of Law actively organizes as well as participates in Curricular and Co-Curricular Activities in Campus and out Campus for the overall development of the students and enriching the practical knowledge of the budding lawyers. In continuation of this endeavor, on 8th February, 2019, eleven Faculty and one hundred and thirty five Law students participated in the event on ‘Law, Justice & Judicial Power Justice P. N. Bhagwati’s Approach’. The event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri Ram Nath Kovind, President of India. Presided over by Hon’ble Shri Ranjan Gogoi, Chief Justice of India in the presence of Hon’ble Judges of the Supreme Court of India.

UnMask Debate

On 13th February, 2019, School of Law has organized very first edition of the ‘UNMASK’, based on an innovative format of debating which tests your ability to judge both sides of the coin. Turncoat is a debate where the speaker literally debates against himself. One starts by taking a stance on the topic and switches sides after a specific duration of time.

Visit to Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Museum, New Delhi

School of Law has organized an Educational visit of the Law students to Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial Museum, New Delhi on 13th February 2019. The objective of the event was to familiarize law students with Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, popularly known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, and his work as an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who inspired the Dalit Buddhist movement and campaigned against social discrimination towards the untouchables, while also supporting the rights of women and labour.

Student Placement Drive

School of Law has organized the Second Placement Drive for the Final Year Law students of BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB, B.Sc. LLB & LL.M on Saturday, 02nd February 2019 and Saturday 16th February 2019. A recruitment panel of reputed Legal Firms visited the department for the selection of the students on the basis of their knowledge and skills.

Criminal Law Quiz

School of Law, Sharda University organized a Criminal Law Quiz on Tuesday, 19th February 2019. The objective of the quiz was to encourage healthy competition and interaction amongst students from various years of the School of Law.

Intra Moot Court Competition

School of Law organized an Intra Moot Court Competition on Thursday, 7th March 2019. The event saw the participation of students mostly from the first and second year. It gave them a chance to test their argumentative skills and research abilities. The faculty of SOL judged the event and gave their inputs to participants for improvement.

As part of the experiential learning Faculty and Law students participated  in the Open House & Panel Discussion on “Graduate Insolvency Programme: Introducing Insolvency to the World of Education” conducted by Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, Manesar at India International Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi on Saturday, 27th March, 2019.

Workshop on Judicial Services Preparation

School of Law, Sharda University is commited in hand holding its student’s community through the most stressful period of their professional life: choosing a career. It was in the furtherance of this object that it organized a workshop on Judicial Services Preparation on 27th March 2019 that was helmed by the able guidance of Mr. Danish Hasnain, graduate from the premier NLSIU, Bangalore and former Legal Consultant to the Niti Aayog.

 

Visit to The National Company Law Tribunal, New Delhi

School of Law, Sharda University organized a visit to the National Company Law Tribunal on Friday, 29th March, 2019. The Objective was to enable the students to acquire an experience of live court proceedings of the Tribunal and to understand the basics of company law through a guided tour by the subject teacher. The visit also was targeted at instilling a sense of discipline and also to acquaint the students with court etiquette.

 

Participation in National Seminar on Skills Development

On 10th April, 2019, faculty and students participated in an event ‘Dignity, Rights and Justice:  A Honour to Hon’ble Mr Justice Dipak Misra’ in India International Centre, New Delhi from 6-8 PM.  The faculty and students interacted with legal luminaries. Participation in these events enhances confidence level of students apart from legal learning.

Ethnic Day Celebration

School of Law celebrated “Ethic Day” on Wednesday, 10th April 2019. The Objective of the event is to encouraging students to foster cultural exchange and to showcase their ethnic dresses. The event also seeks to promote student interaction and to infuse joy of shared culture.

This Symposium aimed at providing a platform where last 75 years progress with regard to stated constitutional goals was evaluated especially in the context of measures taken for upliftment of women. It provided an opportunity to discuss, deliberate and critically assess the efficacy and effectiveness of legislations and policy measures in last 75 year. Also, the Symposium provided suggestions for further course of action in order to achieve better results in coming future. It works to address major issues related to the global economy, such as International Financial Stability, Climate Change Mitigation and Sustainable Development. It is a matter of great pride and honour that India is assuming the G20 Presidency from 1st December 2022. Guest Lecture on Triple Talaq

School of Law, Sharda University organized a Guest Lecture on “Triple Talaq” on Thursday, February 13, 2020. The guest lecture was conducted by Dr. Chandra Rajan leading lawyer of the Supreme Court of India who represented the Muslim Women Personal Law Board before the Hon’ble Court. In a landmark judgment, the Supreme Court held that the Muslim practice of Triple Talaq unconstitutional, striking it down by 3:2 majority. The SC said Triple Talaq violates the fundamental right of Muslim women as it irrevocably ends the marriage.

Workshop on Interview Skills

School of Law, Sharda University organized a Workshop on ‘Interview Skills’ for Pre Final and Final year students of SOL on Thursday, February 13, 2020. The workshop was intended to give students an insight into the interview process, as well as to allow them to develop confidence while scouting for jobs.

Intra Moot Court Completion was organized onTuesday, February 11, 2020. The competition was intended to identify moot aspirants from the first two years in order to groom them for excellence in mooting events.

Client Counseling Session

School of Law, Sharda University organized “Client Counseling Session” on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. The session provided an opportunity for valuable interaction and inputs to students from an experienced lawyer. Interviewing and advising are the most crucial and significant part of most lawyers’ work. Too often, it is assumed that lawyers have the listening and questioning skills needed to conduct an effective interview.

Guest Lecture on Commercial and Maritime Laws

School of Law has organized a Guest Lecture on Commercial and Maritime Laws on Tuesday, 22nd January 2019. Prof. Tabetha Kurtz-Shefford, who holds a Masters in Law from Bristol (2008) and an LLM in Commercial and Maritime Law from Swansea University (2010) was the speaker at the event. While the subject was new to the students, they responded by turning out in large numbers and appreciating the opportunity to interact with someone of such high academic qualifications. The event was co-ordinated by Ms. Neha Garg, Asst. Prof.

Guest Lecture on RERA (Real Estate Regularity Authority)

School of Law, has organized a Guest Lecture on RERA (Real Estate Regularity Authority), Act is legislation dealing with real estate issues on Thursday, 14th February, 2019. The Speaker was Adv. Lt. Col (Retd.) Atul Tyagi. The objective was to raise awareness about various mechanism to protect the interest of home buyers in the real estate sector and to impart knowledge of adjudicating mechanism for speedy dispute redressal.

Movie screening of the classic film ‘Witness for the Prosecution’

School of Law has organized a movie screening of the classic film ‘Witness for the Prosecution’, based upon the eponymous bestselling novel by Agatha Christie on Wednesday, 6th March 2019.  The screening was followed by a Question and Answer session on Evidence Law. The co-ordinators for the event were Ms. Vasudha Misra, Ms. Harpreet Kaur and Mr. Namit Srivastava, Assistant Professors. The Question and Answer session was led by Mr. Ajay Kumar Mishra, Ms. Vasudha Misra and Mr. Harish Kumar Tiwari.

Interactive Session on How to Prepare for the Judiciary

On July 29, 2019, School of Law, Sharda University organized an interactive session on “How to prepare for judiciary” with judicial magistrates Mr Vipul Kumar Yadav and Ms Ruchi Bhati, both of whom have recently cleared UPPCS-J 2018-19. It was inspiring for the students who are interested in pursuing a career in Judicial Services. They shared their challenges and difficulties and how they overcame them. Ms. Ruchi encouraged the students to have firm belief in their abilities and challenge themselves to a higher standard of work. The faculty coordinator for the event was Dr. Ritu Gautam.

On August 29, 2019, School of law, Sharda University organized a training session on “Use of Scc Online Software for Exceptional Legal Research” conducted by a team of experts from the SCC Online Legal Database Team. It was intended to impart to students the knowledge regarding use of the software for research purposed, as well as for effective research process. The training was convened by Mr. Rizwan Ahmed and co-ordinated by Ms. Tabassum Khan.

School of Law, Sharda Universityorganized a Guest Lecture on “Intellectual Property Laws: Current and Emerging Issues” by Eminent Academician Prof.  A. K. Koul, former Vice-Chancellor, NLU Jodhpur and NUSRL Ranchi on September 9, 2019. The lecture proved to be a wonderful opportunity for the students and faculty members to interact with international academician and understand the contemporary and emerging issues involving intellectual property laws.

SOL-Lecture Series (Labour Law)

Sharda University, School of Law, in continuation of “SOL-Lecture Series”, organized a guest lecture by acclaimed Professor Dr. S.C. Srivastava, on “LABOUR LAWS” on October 21, 2019. Professor S.C. Srivastava obtained his LL.D. (Doctor of Laws) from the Calcutta University, and has a privilege of being the first LL.D. in Labor Law in India. He has also been the Member of the Sectoral Innovation Council appointed by the Prime Minister of India to review Labour Laws and Member, Advisory Board on Child Labour, National Labour Institute, Noida.

Session on Basic Mooting Skills and Memorial Preparation

School of Law (SOL), Sharda University organized a special session on 'Basic Mooting Skills and Memorial Preparation' on October 21, 2019 to discuss moot courts which have become a popular pedagogic tool to introduce law students to judicial processes. The talk on the day was delivered by Ms. Chhaya Bhardwaj, Senior Research Associate at O.P. Jindal Global University. Ms. Chhaya is a young diplomat, scholar, and practitioner of International Law and an alumnus of the University of Vermont.

Legal Talk on Legislation & Public policy Versus the Rule of Law

On 6th February, 2018 SOL organized Legal Talk on Legislation & Public policy Versus the Rule of Law in collaborations with the centre for civil society, India's primer public policy think tank. The lecture was delivered by eminent public policy scholar Prof. Christopher Lingle. Prof. Lingle earned a doctorate from the University of Georgia in 1977.

As part of Career Counselling and Guidance, School of Law organized series of sessions  on Competitive examination  Preparation in collaboration with Pahuja Law Academy, Mukherjee  Nagar, Delhi. The first lecture was held on 12th March 2018 and second lecture was held on 14th March, 2018. 

Guest Lecture on ‘Intellectual Property Rights: Emerging Issues’ and Work Shop on ‘Avenues in Legal Higher Studies’

On Friday, 7th September, 2018School of Law organized a guets lecture by Prof. Alka Chawla, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi and Work Shop on ‘Avenues in Legal Higher Studies’ by Ms. Aadya, a Dynamic Law Scholar at Cambridge University. The event was organized to give the students deep knowledge of Intellectual Property Rights Laws, to give students better understanding of the practical aspect of Intellectual Property Rights Laws, to introduce the final year students about various avenues of Higher Studies.

Guest Lecture on ‘Role of Prosecution in Ensuring Justice in India’

On Friday, 13.01.2017 a Guest Lecture was organized on Role of Prosecution in Ensuring Justice in India. Shri Lalit Mudgal, Senior Prosecution Officer (SPO), Gautam Budh Nagar was the Speaker. The objective is to enhance and build the practical approch of students about criminal law system and the role of prosecution in India. He also described the criminal adjudication system. And talked about some burning issues like Plea Bargaining, Victim Compensation Scheme and recent amendments in Criminal law.

On Friday, 20.01.2017 a Guest Lecture was organized on "Law & Social Change" by Prof. S.C.Raina Vice-Chancellor, National Law University Shimla. Prof. Raina described the Law and its importance in the society through its ever-changing nature and its suitability to suit the changing needs of the society. He also talked about some burning issues like Sexual harassment, Child labour, Victim Compensation Scheme and correlated it with the social change and the role of law.

Legal Debate on " Constitutionality of Jallikattu- (Should be Banned or not)

School of Law has organized Legal Debate on Constitutionality of 'Jallikattu - Should be Banned or Not' on 25th January, 2017. Students of first year from SOL and SET have participated in the event and debated on the topic by either speaking in favor or in against of the motion.

Mr. Brajesh Singh, Advocate Supreme Court of India has judged the competition. The aim was to make the students do research and to gain knowledge on this topic. Public speaking is must for a lawyer; hence, the motive was to develop confidence among students to put their arguments strongly.

School of Law organized one day workshop on Conscious Contracts for Social Enterprises on the 29th October 2015. The workshop was conducted by Ms. J. Kim Wright, J.D. American Lawyer author of ABA best-seller "Lawyers as Peacemakers- practicing holistic and problem solving law".The workshop was interactive with fun educative exercises to help students deeply imbibe the learnings from the workshop. The workshop gave a world-wide perspective on the importance of have humanistic purpose and values to setting up a business and how the contracts of the business must reflect and be based on those purpose and values.

Campus Facilities

The Cultural Diversity at Sharda University aims to broaden and deepen students' understanding, experience, and critical thinking skills with regard to cultural differences and cross-cultural interactions, for effective participation in a world of diverse cultures and viewpoints.

State of the art Classrooms

Air-conditioned classrooms are fitted with LCD projectors, OHPs, and sound systems. The lecture halls can accommodate 200 students in one class and tutorial classes are designed for a strength of 30-40 students.  Additional class rooms are available with the capacity 60 students as per the Bar Council of India. We have a LAN-enabled campus, on which a Learning Management System(LMS) is made available, which can facilitate students to discuss academic topics, submit their assignments online, see their class notes, study through specially designed learning resources, and also refer to reference and digital library. The campus as well as student hostels are Wi-Fi enabled with a bandwidth of more than 12 Mbps.

Library

Digital Library is available to provide access to e-Journals, and desired material. The University has a well-stocked, air-conditioned and fully computerized library, which serves as a catalyst in the learning process. To ignite the intellectual spirit in young minds large collection of video/audio CDs, industry and company information sources are made available to the students. The SOL has course-wise Departmental libraries to provide adequate support for complete academic pursuit.

Computer Labs & Language Labs

SOL has well equipped, LAN enabled Labs. These Labs have Video-Conferencing Facilities for Guest Lectures and Seminars..

Canteen

The University has a modern canteen functioning in the campus, which can conveniently accommodate a good number of students at a time. The canteen is provided with modern furniture and automatic cooking system and have 4 well known chains of Restaurants-Sagar Ratna, Cafe Coffee Day, Red Chillies and Bikano.

Auditoriums, Seminar Rooms

The University has Auditoriums and Seminar Rooms equipped with the latest audio visual  equipments.  Every School has a Conference/Board room for meetings, presentations and discussions. More state-of-the-art facilities for  recreation, conferences, seminars, convocation etc are available.

Healthcare Facilities

Sharda University students have access to medical facilities within the campus. The University has world class 750  bed multi-specialty Sharda Hospital with all modern medical facilities such as General medicine, ICU, Trauma Centre, ECG, X-Ray and laboratory investigations. The students are provided free OPD services and discounted  rates for bed occupancy and tests. Plans are now being pursued for group Health Insurance for the students. All the members of faculty, are however covered.

On Campus Residences

Separate Hostels for Boys and Girls with furnished rooms and  round the clock power back up are available at  University campus for almost 1200 students, Students are provided single rooms or shared accommodation subject to availability. Preference is given to final year students and post-graduate students for occupying single room accommodation. A weekly laundry service is provided and each hostel has its own common room. Hostel accommodation to 1200 girl applicants is provided. More Hostel residences are planned to be built on campus so as to have at least 50% enrolled students on campus at all times.

Wi-Fi Enabled Campus

The campus has a seamless Wi'Fi network with more than 2O Mbps leased line with multiples which allows students to be connected on the net anytime, anywhere! We have a campus LAN, on which a Learning Management System is made available, which can facilitate students to discuss academic topics, submit their assignments online, see their class notes, study through specially designed learning resources and also refer to reference and digital library. The campus Cafe, the various spots on the campus with relaxed seating allows the student to complete their assignment between classes and submit it to the teacher online within the stipulated deadline. For a student conscious of his future, the campus allows all avenues to explore the technology solutions that the university offers.

Our testimony of imparting qualitative and professional education is reflected by our prized alumni. As of date the Sharda Group has more than 11,000 alumni spread over the world working and contributing at senior executive positions in well known institutions and organizations.

Sharda University has a well laid-out and systematic process of dovetailing our students' career aspirations with Corporate expectations. The Training and Placement Department at Sharda University comprises of the Student Committee with 15 members from the last two years of the course and the Placement Department represented by the Placement Managers, Faculties, and Industry Professionals.

The leading companies from all sectors are invited by the Placement Department on the campus, where the eligible students are facilitated to go through the entire selection process. School of Law makes efforts to prepare law students for Judicial services and corporate legal service in addition to make them competent lawyers in the Court Room. 

Moot court

Moot court is one of the key co-curricular activities in School of Law, Sharda University (SSOL) and is emphasized upon in order to prepare students to face the challenges and arguments in the real court and for the same SSOL have a dedicated space for Moot Court which is made to look like a real court. In this exercise students take part in simulated court which involves drafting of memorials or memoranda and participating in oral arguments. The moot court competitions are judged by the professors, lawyers and serving judges. In the competition the focus is on the application of the law to a common set of evidentiary assumptions, facts, clarifications and corrections to which the competitors are introduced.

SSOL also organizes an annual Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial National Moot Court Competition in which teams from all over India participates and the students of our Law school have an opportunity to interact and listen to various sitting and retired Justices of Supreme Court and various High Courts along with senior advocates like Honble Mr. Justice A.K. Sikri, Honble Mr. Justice  P.C.Pant, Senior Advocate Mr. Ram Jethmalani, Senior Advocate Mr. Salman Khurshid etc.

Student Achievement

  • Ms. Arat Banday (BALLB-3rd year) won the Best Speaker award in the 3rd National Moot Court Competition 2023 organised by Christ University, Ghaziabad held from 9-11 February, 2023. The team comprising of Arat Banday, Shreya Sharma and Seelam Sai Deepak qualified for the Quarter Finals in this Competition. It is a proud moment for Sharda School of Law, Sharda University.
  • Ms. Tooba Nawaz Naqvi and Ms. Sadaf Siddiqui, Students of BALLB 4th Year secured 2nd Runner Up position in the National Level Quiz Competition Vidhi & Vyapar organized by Sharda School of Business Studies,Sharda University.
  • Students from Sharda School of Law, Sharda University participated in Bills and Acts Programme on Sansad TV on the topic "The Forest (Conservation) Amendment Bill 2023".
  • Anurag Tyagi and Md Shadique participated in the National Youth Parliament organised by IMS Unison University, Dehradun.
  • It is a matter of pride for Sharda University that Mr. Anirudh Tyagi student of B.A.L.LB (Hons) 4th year has been appointed as the first My Gov Campus Ambassador from the University.
  • Team comprising of 3 students: Kumar Saurav Dev from BA LLB 4th Year. Ayush Shukla from BALLB 4th Year, and Ankit Kumar BA LLB 4th Year. won the 11th RC Chopra Memorial National Moot Court Competition 2023 organised by St.Soldier Law College, Jalandhar, Punjab.
  • Ms. Arat Banday (BALLB-3rd year)who won the Best Speaker in the 3rd National Moot Court Competition 2023 organised by Christ University, Ghaziabad held from 9-11 February,2023 was congratulated by Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Sir, Sharda University for her achievement.
  • Team comprising of Ajitesh, Vani and Riya Shukla (3rd-year students) bagged Best Memorial in the 7th National Moot Court Competition 2023 (Online) organised by Brihan Maharashtra College of Pune. Over 80 teams throughout India had participated in the National Competition!
  • Students of Sharda School of Law participated in a panel discussion organized by Sansad TV on Data Protection Laws.
