National Lok Adalat , Gautam Buddha Nagar, U.P. 8 Mar 2025

Students from the Pro Bono Club of Sharda School of Law participated in the National Lok Adalat held on 8th March 2025 at Surajpur District Court, Gautam Budh Nagar, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority. The visit gave students firsthand exposure to how Lok Adalats function as a quick, cost-effective, and people-friendly dispute resolution system. By assisting with case files, interacting with litigants, and observing mediation proceedings, students gained practical insights into alternative dispute resolution and the handling of minor offences. Their active involvement also helped spread awareness about legal rights and the benefits of Lok Adalats within the community.

Event Objective-

Students of Pro Bono Club, Sharda School of Law, in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority Gautam Budh Nagar, are participating in the upcoming National Lok Adalat on 08th March 2025 (Saturday) at Sarjapur Court, Gautam Budh Nagar. Lok Adalat means Peoples Court. Lok Adalat is governed by the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, and the National Legal Services Authorities (Lok Adalat) Regulation, 2009. One of the key functions of the Legal Services Authority is to conduct Lok Adalat, whereby any pending cases relating to the following matters can be taken up for adjudication through mutual consent of the disputing parties.

Expected Outcomes:

After the visit to the National Lok Adalat, Students shall be able to:

  • Understand the concept and acquire advanced knowledge of Lok Adalat.
  • Understand the Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism.
  • Identify the practical solutions of pity offences in the judicial process.
  • Practical learning on the various legal issues.

Event description-
On the 8th of March 2025, a Lok Adalat was organized at the Surajpur District Court. The event witnessed an overwhelming response from litigants, legal professionals, and students alike. One of the most commendable aspects of this Lok Adalat was the active participation of students from Sharda School of Law, who played a crucial role in assisting the legal proceedings and raising awareness about the importance of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
