Sharda School of Design organized an expert lecture titled “From Handloom to Hi-tech: Evolution of Weaving & Printing in Modern Era,” delivered by Praveen Tiwari, followed by a 4-day Weaving & Printing workshop-cum-training for 2nd and 3rd year Fashion Design students of B.Des and M.Des programs. The event aimed to expose students to the skills of Indian artisans and enrich their understanding of fabric design and creation. The workshop was aligned with SDG 4, focusing on equipping youth with relevant technical and vocational skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. It also promoted cultural diversity and encouraged appreciation of traditional weaving and printing practices. Through the workshop, students gained hands-on experience in textile design and fabric development by applying their theoretical knowledge in practical settings. The sessions provided valuable insights into the evolution and modern applications of weaving and printing techniques while encouraging students to explore innovative approaches in textile and fabric development.
