Educational Visit to National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy

Sharda School of Design, Sharda University, organized an educational visit to the National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy, New Delhi, for students as part of its experiential learning initiatives. The visit was planned to provide students with direct exposure to Indias rich craft traditions, indigenous materials, and traditional design practices preserved within the museum environment.
During the visit, students explored the museum galleries, which showcase a wide range of traditional crafts, textiles, artifacts, and architectural elements from different regions of India. The experience enabled them to observe diverse craft techniques, material applications, and cultural narratives associated with handmade products. Students also engaged with live craft demonstrations and displays, gaining insights into the skills and processes practiced by artisan communities. The visit served as an important academic experience, allowing students to connect theoretical design knowledge with real-world craft heritage. It encouraged critical observation, appreciation of traditional craftsmanship, and a deeper understanding of the relationship between design, culture, and sustainability.
