About the Programme

The Master of Arts in Journalism & Mass Communication is a two-year postgraduate programme offered by the Sharda School of Media, Film and Entertainment, designed to develop advanced skills in journalism, media, and communication. This MA Journalism and Mass Communication course combines academic learning with practical training across key areas such as investigative journalism, digital storytelling, public relations, advertising, and media research.

The curriculum is regularly updated to reflect evolving industry practices, with modules in digital marketing, social media management, content strategy, and search engine optimization (SEO). Students also explore emerging areas such as AI-driven content creation, data journalism, audience analytics, mobile reporting, and multimedia production, helping them stay relevant in today’s digital media environment.

Practical learning is an integral part of the programme. Students work on projects including short films, documentaries, podcasts, blogs, digital campaigns, and research portfolios. Industry exposure is provided through internships, field visits, newsroom simulations, and masterclasses by professionals from journalism, advertising, and digital media.

The programme also focuses on building critical thinking, communication skills, and an understanding of media law and ethics. Graduates are prepared for careers in journalism, digital media, public relations, corporate communication, or for further academic pursuits such as Ph.D., UGC-NET, or JRF.

  • PEO1: Nurturing creative personnel by polishing their Social and Entrepreneurial skills relating to Journalism, Media and Entertainment industry.

  • PEO6: Prepare competent resource persons with expertise in Development Communication, Media Education, Communication Research and related fields.
