About the Programme
The B.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication is a dynamic three-year undergraduate programme offered by the Sharda School of Media, Film and Entertainment, designed to prepare students for the fast-changing landscape of global media and communication. The curriculum offers a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge and practical training, covering essential domains such as news reporting, editing, radio production, television journalism, public relations, advertising, and creative writing.
What sets this programme apart is its focus on emerging media trends and technologies. Students are introduced to AI-powered content generation tools, data journalism, mobile reporting, social media strategy, podcasting, multimedia storytelling, and audience analytics, enabling them to thrive in the digital-first media environment. Instruction also covers key platforms like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, and AI-based editing tools that are reshaping modern journalism and communication workflows.
Throughout the programme, students undertake hands-on projects including short films, podcasts, news capsules, blogs, and digital campaigns, while building a professional portfolio and research-based assignments. Regular industrial visits, media internships, and interactive sessions with industry experts provide invaluable real-world exposure. Emphasis is also placed on public speaking, articulation, critical thinking, and personality development to groom students into confident, media-savvy professionals.
Upon completion, graduates are equipped to enter fields such as broadcast journalism, digital media, content creation, advertising, corporate communication, and public relations, or may choose to advance their academic journey through a Master’s in Journalism and Mass Communication.
