About the Programme

B.Tech. in Stem Cell & Tissue Engineering is a four-year undergraduate programme that provides extensive training in the science and practice of tissue engineering in all aspects from theoretical, to testing and clinical application. The programme targets those students that wish to pursue a career in biomedical or life sciences.
The curriculum of this programme is designed in such a way so that students get deep insights into the theoretical as well as experimental aspects of the stem cell and tissue engineering with the help of industry experts and potential employers. Additionally, the students also learn about laboratory management programs and various ethical issues that concern stem cell and tissue engineering research.
The aim of this programme is to prepare students to build up their research acumen by doing individualised projects using different types of stem cell experimental approaches so that they can readily integrate into the scientific workforce in stem cell industry and meet the needs of highly qualified technical and managerial personnel.
After completion of the course, students can opt their careers as research scientists and corporate professionals in universities, hospitals etc.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

  • PEO1:  Graduates will be able to integrate the physical, biological and mathematical sciences with engineering principles for the study of biological systems and medical health related problems.
  • PEO2:  Graduates will demonstrate the applications of biotechnology and bioengineering principles through development of industrial designs and processes that are of societal and industrial importance.
  • PEO3:  Graduates will adapt to and update with rapidly changing biotechnologies through self-improvement with continuous learning about the impact of technology and engineering solutions on the society and environment.
  • P EO4:  Graduates will develop communication skills and demonstrate independent thinking, analytical and problem solving skills, self-management and function effectively in team-oriented and open-ended activities in an industrial or academic environment.
  • PEO5:  Graduates will develop leadership skills at levels appropriate to their experience and perform ethically and professionally in business, academia, industry and society.
