About

Dr. Sahil Lall did his PhD from the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS-TIFR), Bangalore following a Masters in Biotechnology from Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU), Madurai and a Bachelors in Life Sciences from Ramjas College, Delhi University, Delhi.

His work has focused on membrane biophysics and transmembrane signaling, elucidation and quantitation of various processes that occur on cellular membranes. He has worked on diverse single-pass receptor proteins, and various cationic ion-channels, which encompass his interests in transmembrane signaling, ion channel physiology, membrane fusion, membrane permeabilization, and lipid-protein interaction. He is conversant with patch clamp electrophysiology, various microscopic imaging modalities (confocal, TIRF, Ca2+,) and image analysis, standard molecular biology and protein purification, Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations, and other computational biology approaches.

After a brief postdoc at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (Texas, USA), where he worked on interaction of TRP channels with their lipid environment, he has newly joined Sharda University. He plans to continue his work here, exploring membrane protein dynamics both computationally and experimentally.

Outside the lab, he is interested in history of science, and public communication of science.
