About

Dr. Piyush Kumar Gupta is currently working as an assistant professor in the Department of Life Sciences, Sharda University, Greater Noida. He completed his Ph.D. in biotechnology from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai in 2019. He is working from the last 8 years in the area of polyester nanomaterials, phyto-nanomedicine, drug delivery, and tissue engineering (h index – 5). He has published 16 peer-reviewed SCI indexed research articles in the international journals of repute. He has also published 3 peer-reviewed review articles and 2 book chapters. He is an inventor of 4 patents including 2 PCT and 2 Indian patents filing. He developed a novel technology for the metal-free synthesis of polyester nanomaterials which has been granted for 20 years by Indian patent office, Govt. of India. He has bestowed with several awards, scholarships and fellowships including Rudolf Cimdins Scholarship from European Society for Biomaterials, Strasbourg, France and best paper presentation awards at IIT Delhi, IISc, VIT University and IIT Madras. He has served as invited speaker in various national conferences. He has presented his research work in more than 15 international or national conferences. He has attended more than 14 workshops, symposia and faculty development programs (FDPs) both in India as well as abroad in his area of expertise. He has organized several FDPs and national webinars in the capacity of organizer and member of the organizing committee. He is guiding his PhD students on the entitled project “Genotoxicity of metal-free polyester nanomaterials” and He has guided several M.Sc. and MS students for their dissertation program. He has worked on several administrative responsibilities like the coordinator of B.Sc. Botany Program, Member of Board of Studies, Lab coordinator, Extracurricular event coordinator, NAAC criteria coordinator etc. He has served as external and internal examiner for practical examinations for both undergraduate and post-graduate courses. He has worked as a reviewer for several international journals. He has several international and national collaborations with scientists from CSIR Labs, IITs, NITs, Technion etc. He is a member of Royal Society of Chemistry, American Chemical Society, and European Society for Biomaterials. He is an active life member of Indian Science Congress Association, Asian Polymer Association, Society for Biomaterials and Artificial Organs (SBAOI), and Society for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (STERMI).
