About

Dr. Astha Gupta is working as Assistant Professor in Sharda School of Agricultural Sciences, Sharda University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. She worked as Principal Investigator (National Postdoctoral Fellow: 2018-2020) in SERB-DST funded project “Quantitative Trait Loci mapping for agricultural important traits in safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.)” at Department of Botany, University of Delhi, North Campus, New Delhi. She has earned her Ph.D. in (Biological Science) on title “Mapping quantitative trait loci for traits related to biomass in Arabidopsis thaliana” from Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research–National Botanical Research Institute (AcSIR-NBRI), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. She has obtained her M.Sc. from the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. However, she has published 12 research articles, 1 book, 4 book chapters, 2 review articles, and a training manual in reputed journals with 2 patents. Moreover, three book chapters have been accepted with Springer and Taylor & Francis group. One book published entitled “Advances in Agricultural and Food Sciences for Environment and Biosecurity” with Weser books, Germany in 2022 and available in Amazon.  She has been awarded Foreign Travel Grant from Department of Biotechnology-CTEP and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in 2019. She has invited as speaker in the “2nd International Conference on Plant & Molecular Biology” held on 23rd-25th October 2019 at Amsterdam, Netherlands and world bank-ICAR funded NAHEP-CAAST training program on "Pre-breeding and Molecular breeding approach: Two important pillars for the vegetable and crop improvement" held on 17th February-1st March 2020 at ICAR-National Institute for Plant Biotechnology, New Delhi. Recently, she has received “Best Young Scientist Award 2021” and “Best Paper Presentation Award 2021”. She has also been invited for virtual oral presentation at 9th International Congress & Expo on Biotechnology and Biomaterials (BiotechMaterials2021) Venice, Italy during September 23-25, 2021 and delivered a talk on Suno Sharda 90.8 FM radio. She has organized and attended several faculty development programs, webinars and online modules, national and international conferences. She has published two patents and two are under process.  In addition to that she is also associated with various scientific societies, editorial boards and review committees

  • Eight years as Senior Research Fellow and National Post-doctoral Fellow (SERB-DST) at National Botanical Research Institute, CSIR, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture, ICAR, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh and Department of Botany, University of Delhi, North Campus, New Delhi. Two years experience in teaching and research at Sharda School of Agricultural Sciences, Sharda University.

  • Ph.D. (Biological Sciences) awarded from Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research–National Botanical Research Institute (AcSIR-NBRI), CSIR, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India (2017).

  • M.Sc. (Plant Biotech) from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India (2010).

  • Received Certificate of Honor for outstanding research contribution in School of Agricultural Sciences, Sharda University 2020-21.
  • Awarded Best Paper Presentation Award in International Conference on Advances in Agricultural & Food Sciences, 16th–20th January, 2021 organized by SAS, Sharda University, Greater Noida, India.
  • Awarded Department of Biotechnology-CTEP International Travel grant 2019.
  • Awarded Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-Foreign Travel Grant for International conference in 2019.
  • DST-National Post-doctoral Fellowship (2018-20) at Department of Botany, University of Delhi, North Campus, New Delhi awarded by The Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), India (20,28,400 INR).
