Dr. Gouri Sankar Mishra

About

Dr. Gouri Sankar Mishra is a senior academician and researcher with over 23 years of teaching experience in Computer Science and Engineering. He is currently serving as Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Sharda University, Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh).

Dr. Mishra holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Sharda University, with his doctoral research focused on English Text to Indian Sign Language Translation, reflecting his long-standing contribution to inclusive and assistive technologies. He also holds an M.Tech. from Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, and an MCA from North Orissa University, Odisha.

His research expertise spans Machine Translation, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Image Processing, Computer Vision, and Assistive Technologies. He has made significant scholarly contributions with 36 international journal publications, 2 book chapters, and 17 international conference papers, many of which are indexed in SCIE, Scopus, Springer, IEEE Xplore and other reputed databases.

Dr. Mishra has successfully supervised two Ph.D. scholars (one awarded in 2025 and one submitted in 2025) and has three patents published with the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trademarks, Government of India, covering areas such as machine-learning-based cyber defense, smart appliances, and air quality forecasting.

An active contributor to academic administration, Dr. Mishra has held several key roles including NAAC Coordinator, NBA Criterion Coordinator, Convocation Coordinator, Alumni Coordinator, Project Coordinator and Year Coordinator for the Department of CSE. He has also been closely involved in organizing IEEE and Springer international conferences, hackathons and technical and socio-cultural events at Sharda University.

Dr. Mishra has completed MOOC courses from NPTEL-SWAYAM and has been appreciated by NPTEL-SWAYAM as a Mentor for online courses. His interests also include Indian philosophy and yoga which reflects a holistic academic outlook.

With a strong blend of teaching excellence, impactful research, academic leadership and innovation, Dr. Gouri Sankar Mishra continues to contribute meaningfully to higher education, research advancement and socially relevant technological development.
