7th  December – 2018:

On the occasion of ‘Armed Forces Flag Day the Cultural Society of Sharda University organized an event for the youth aspiring to join the defence forces. Since 1949 ‘The Armed Forces Flag Day has been observed annually in India on 7th December. Over the years, it has become a tradition to commemorate this day as an honour to the soldiers, airmen and sailors of India.

On the 6th of December, a day earlier to the actual day of celebration, Sharda University sought to honour this tradition with Col. Yashpal Singh Wadhwa (Deputy Registrar Estate Management S.U), Dr. Raja Dutta (Chief Operating Officer SU) and Col. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar (Pro VC Medical Wing SU) who are all former military servicemen as Chief Guest. Y.K. Gupta, Pro Chancellor S.U, and Dr. Prof. G.R.C. Reddy, Vice Chancellor SU, was also welcomed as a chief guest at the event. The event was held at an auditorium in SMSR Block-22 5th floor, S.U under the supervision of MR. Sumeet Rana Assistant Registrar Dr. Mohit Sahni, Associate Dean of Student Welfare and warmly presented Dean of Student Welfare Dr.Nirupma Gupta.

The guests were esteemed by a bouquet and plant as token of respect and love by the society. Thereafter, a power point presentation, to recall the brave deeds and valour of the soldiers who fought in Indo-Pak war, Liberation war, was exhibited. To share their experiences and install some motivation in our young generations, our guest of honours were called upon the dais. They talked about the significance of our national flag, duties and responsibilities of the civilian, and how one can contribute towards our nation and society.

Shama Parveen, junior under officer was also presented with a letter of appreciation for being an outstanding cadet among all NCC members of Sharda University. The event was concluded with a beautiful dance performance by NCC cadets and an inspirational message by Mr. Y.K. Gupta Prochancellor Sharda University. The event successfully instilled a sense of patriotism and left everyone spellbound.
