Message from the Dean Academics
I welcome you on behalf of the Sharda School of Business Studies, to Sharda university and thank you for showing your interest in us. For over one and half decades, the SSBS has been educating young women and men who enter its community and attain their transformation into responsible citizens, corporate leaders and management teachers. Establishing a continued brand identify for a Business School like the SSBS, is always a crucially continuing challenge. A Business School has to enlarge its optimism for future, and capture both the “IS” and “OUGHT” parts. The SSBS imbibes what McKinsey in 2020 has published regarding the four parameters of soul-searching process for higher educational institutions - discover, decide, design and deliver; what Clayton M. Christensen has given to the world – Business model innovation and contributions by many other luminaries. Towards the quest for offering quality business education, at the SBS, we offer variety of renowned courses in undergraduate (UG), post graduate (PG), integrated (UG and PG) and doctoral programs in Management, Economics and Commerce, as well as certificate programs.
Our mission is to provide creative and innovative environment in which the faculty imparts skills and knowledge to students; students in turn strive to become accomplished, productive members of the ever-changing, global community. The faculty is a very dedicated group of experts and scholars who focus on providing wholesome knowledge to our students through systematic mentoring. Due to regular program innovation, and internationalization, we at the SBS believe in ------ the world is one family (वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम ); performing together with team work and deep concentration (सह वीर्यं करवावहै); and we are friends with all living beings ( सुहृदं सर्वभूतानां ) - knowledge is acquired by practice (अभ्यसानुवर्तिनी विद्या)
Profile
Dr Jayanthi Ranjan is an academician with 30 years of experience in teaching, research, training and consulting; Currently she is dean Academics and Dean of School of Business, Sharda University(Oct 2021-). She held positions of Academic mentor of Ashoka Group of Educational Institutions, Hyderabad and Director of Ashoka School of Business Hyderabad (2020-2021). She has guided 16 PhD and DBS students till date. Her past positions include: Group Asso Dean IMT Ghaziabad, Professor IMT Ghaziabad (2006-2019) advisor & Professor, IMT Nagpur (2019-2020). Earlier from 1994-2006, she was associated with Jaipuria Institute of management Noida, Amrita University Coimbatore. She specializes in Digital transformation, Business model innovating using critical and design thinking, Big data analytics. She is known in academics for institutional brand building, international strategic academic activities, international benchmarking campus school alignments, student affairs and program innovation.
She has done umpteen campus to corporate programs and set up several revenues driven labs. She is ranked 6th in India on the India Business School Faculty productivity rankings in the area of MIS as per study conducted by IIM Bangalore. She has around 3300+ google scholar citations. Her course outlines Business Intelligence and Big Data are top ten ranked outlines in India. She received certificate of distinction from Columbia university on Digital transformation; from MIT USA on Design thinking. She is a Hong Kong University of Science & Technology certified Big Data expert. She guided 15 PhD and 13 DBA scholars nationally and internationally. She is a gold medalist and university rank holder in her graduation. She has published over 100+ research refereed papers and Scopus (720+) Indexed in refereed international/national journals of repute that includes ABDC journals; has been principal investigator of 15 sponsored research projects; She has also been the editor of many research journals; is on the Editorial Board of many national/ international journals. She has conducted a large number of Management Development Programmes for executives from public, private and government organizations.
She organized over 30 conferences, conclaves and seminars, workshops single handedly and tied up with many industries/international top universities for collaborations and innovative revenue driven programs. She had been to many countries including USA, Europe, Japan, Australia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sweden, Norway etc and taught courses abroad. With over 25 books, she has also done consulting assignments for various private and Government organizations and has travelled widely nationally and internationally on professional assignments. Dr Ranjan has been on the expert/ assessment/selection committees of Advisory Boards; Academic Councils business schools; She is a member of a number of professional bodies and received 3 best paper awards. She has received many awards like ‘Best Teacher Award, Fellow of AIMS International, Claude Shannon Memorial Award of Excellence, Best Woman Management researcher award, Best management scholar award and Best Management researcher award Global management research award.
