About

Prof. (Dr.) D.S. Rana obtained his B.Sc. (Agri.) from HPKVV, Palampur, HP and M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Agronomy from ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. Prof. Rana has 42 years service experience and held the position of Agricultural Development Officer, Technical Officer, Scientist/Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist, ICAR-Emeritus Scientist and National Consultant in various Govt. organizations before joining Sharda University. As researcher at IARI, New Delhi, Prof. Rana executed numbers of research projects on applied and strategic research in area of natural resource management, crop production technology, crop diversification, dry land agriculture and conservation agriculture. As faculty member at IARI, New Delhi, Prof. Rana taught number of courses to PG students and mentored more than 20 M.Sc./ Ph.D. students as Major Research Guide. He also designed and revised various courses for PG course curriculum and remained Chairman/members of various academic committees. He authored/edited/revised numbers of practical manuals and text books meant for UG/PG students and contributed chapters for the text books and manuals.

Award & Recognition

Prof. Rana was the Organizing Secretary of the Third International Agronomy Congress and National Symposium organized by Indian Society of Agronomy and Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.  He also remained Secretary of the Indian Society of Agronomy, New Delhi for two terms.
