During last decade entire world including India has faced outbreaks of number of respiratory and arthropod viruses appearing as emerging, newly emerging and re-emerging pathogens. Pandemics caused by the respiratory viruses have caused un precedented number of morbidity and mortality of the patients. One of the most crucial steps in launching an effective intervention programme to intervene the disease transmission, is early diagnosis and interrupting transmission chain of viruses. There is shortage of trained manpower for molecular and serological diagnosis of viruses, an understanding of maintaining biosafety measures and on safe handling of the infectious samples of blood, swab and sputum etc. We propose to launch a set of training programmes for the undergraduates, post graduates and early research students to generate trained manpower for handling and diagnosis the viruses. Following training programmes are proposed to be launched:
| Course Title | Tenure of course (Yearly basis) | Eligibility | No. of students in batch | Training fees applicable |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Advance molecular training /Masters’ dissertation | 6 months (January to June) | Masters in any subject of Life Sciences | 10 | Rs 20,000=00 (For Non-Sharda students) Rs. 10,000=00 (For Sharda students) |
| Summer training | 4 weeks( June-July) | Masters/Bachelors in any subject of Life Sciences | 10 | Rs 5000=00 (For Non-Sharda students) Rs. 3000=00 (For Sharda students) |
| Training in molecular diagnosis of viruses | 4 weeks (anytime of the year) | Masters/Bachelors in Life Sciences/Medical Sciences | 5 | Rs 5000=00 (For Non-Sharda students)
Rs. 3000=00 (For Sharda students) |
