India is the third largest economy in the world with more than 1.25 million people carries significant and political in global affairs. World looks upon India as a land of Mahatma Buddha and Gandhi. India is also largest democracy in the world and its NRIs are highly respected globally.

That is why Indian elections elicit interest from Rwanda to Rochester and from Tokyo to Timbuktu.

2014 elections is significant for above reasons but is also significant for reasons that shape the destiny of present generation. Elections are not only political act but have semi religious overtones. People caste their votes to express not only their opinion but also their religious and social believe.

The record number of selfies of people voting also indicates that voting is a joyous event for both.

World barring exception wants to see India strong. One of the problems world facing today is the crisis of leadership .One of the virtues of feudalism was it produced leaders.  Who in turn had loyal and fervent followers.  As we have moved from British Raj to independent India we have experienced shift in leadership.  We had a leader of saintliness and fought for pride called Gandhi. We had a leader of humanity and modern India called Nehru. Then came Shastri and Indira Gandhi and then we have a visionary leader called Rajiv Gandhi. Today Young India can grow strong, financially stable and can have government   which can give sound infrastructure.

But with a population of 1 billion and energy that floats in India needs direction, not only financial, not only political but also spiritual. Hence 2014 should give birth to leader who empowers Indians and thus world with his spiritual leadership; the core essence of being Indian.

Spiritual leadership does not mean a religious turnover but an overall growth of society in positive direction with human values. We need give birth to society where people adapt core values, where happiness as described by philosophers as a key aspect of human life should dwell in each house, there is trust and respect for each other and there should be true need for golden mean between the religiosity and materialism, and Indians compete with high self esteem.

At Sharda University they conducted a workshop on Spiritualism and management to show that how the spiritual mind can influence modern management.  A Spiritual leader is who can remove the ugly aspects of society and sustains beauty in holistic manner. “Beauty” is an ancient term in Indian as well a western philosophy.

“Satya hi Shiv hai Shiv hi Satya hai”. Lord Shiva is the dude and most beautiful of all lords, according to famous writer Amish. So to bring forth the ancient concept of beauty and truth to the modern capitalist society should be the job of our new leader.

Not mere getting roads constructed, converting villages into modern towns and bringing good administration. That too is also important as it will enhance the self esteem of Indians. Elections 2014 will tell how lucky the Indians are!!
