14th June has been marked as the World Blood Donation Day by WHO. All over the world on this day blood donation camps are organized and millions of people donate blood. Blood Donation for sure is a great cause because it is a life-saving gift. The theme of the 2012 World Blood Donor Day campaign, “Every blood donor is a hero” focuses on the idea that every one of us can become a hero by giving blood.

Sharda University’s Sharda Hospital also joined in and came forward to celebrate this day by organizing a Blood Donation Camp. The news about the event was celebrated by putting up posters and banners in the campus. Sharda University’s official FB page also helped in spreading the word about the event.

Sharda Hospital is fortunate to have a Blood Bank and Blood Donation Group at it’s service. On 14th June as soon as the camp opened, enthusiastic donors started coming in. People from the University, from outside, students, staff and faculty all came forward to donate blood. The blood-bank staff at the Blood Donation Camp was very courteous and well equipped to manage the show. Every walk-in was attended with smile, the prospect was asked to fill a form and this was followed by a Blood Pressure test and a small question-answer round. Only after a person was found suitable and fit for blood donation, the needles were injected and the process started.

The Corporate team of Sharda Group also stepped in and donated blood. Here are some pictures from the day:
