Hollywood movie “Spanglish “is a tribute, to the strength and sacrifice of a woman.  It is the story of a Californian immigrant who is a native Mexican woman. She is a single mother who takes up the job of a house keeper in a rich family of Los Angeles. She maintains the secret of her job from her sensitive and sensible daughter. Man of the house falls in love with her and proposes her to be his wife. But she sacrifices her happiness at the altar of her daughter’s future and hence becomes a heroine for her successful daughter. Woman is a daughter, mother and wife; she plays multiple roles in the society. Movie highlights the fact that a strong woman can face any challenge.

In real world woman as an entrepreneur, musician, actor, athlete is inspiring the society to be a better place. Late Kalpana Chawla and Indra Nooyi make us all proud, but still this success is not universal; in parts of the world she is still subjugated. Girls as young as thirteen are married to fifty year old man, thus destroying her happiness forever.  Women International day is celebrated to draw attention to this anomaly.

Lord Krishna has said that “where women are respected, only their prosperity and happiness prevails”. God has made woman to be a complement of man. If she is treated with love and respect she is the finest of God’s creation. She shares and cares and is the life line of the society.

No better tribute can be paid to the woman than that paid by Sachin Tendulkar, when he dedicated his Bharat Ratna to all mothers of India, Finally to quote Napoleon” Give me good mothers and I would give you a great nation”.

We at Sharda bow to the mothers of the world ensuring at the same time that woman are respected and protected all around us.
