Vertical Studio Exercise at SAP

22 Jan 2018

Inspired by an internationally practiced method of teaching Architecture, SU SAP has introduced a VERTICAL STUDIO EXERCISE during the current Term (1702), January to May 2018.

Vertical Studio Exercise consists of students of 2nd, 3rd and 5th year Architecture participating in a single studio exercise of preparing the architectural design of a single project.  The total number of students is close to 250. The students are divided into 20 groups, each with eight to ten members and guided by two faculty members.  Each group of students represent a mix of students from all the participating classes as mentioned above.Since this kind of exercise is being taken up for the first time, a simple project has been identified that may be designed over a few weeks time from 16th January to 02nd February 2018.

Three entrance gate projects have been identified for the exercise:

- Entrance to Amaravati, the Smart New Capital City of Andhra Pradesh

- Entrance  to Greater Noida as one approaches from Noida and

- Entrance to Okhla Bird Sanctuary

The faculty and students are planning a site visit on Friday 19th January 2018 to get a realistic feel of the project.
