Prof. Subhash Dhuliya has been a practicing journalist for a decade before joining media academics in 1983 when he joined Indian Institute of Mass Communication-the premier institute in the field. He has been Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Open University, Professor and Director, School of Journalism and News Media Studies, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Professor and Head of Education, Research and Training Unit of the Electronic Media Production Centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University and Professor of Journalism, Course Director and the Head of the Publications Department and the Editor of the Communicator and Sanchar Madhyam - quarterly research journals in English and Hindi respectively at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication.
Prof. Dhuliya has wide experience and expertise in journalism practice and academics. He has conceptualized and designed large number of programmes in various streams of journalism and communication studies. His areas of expertise are journalism and international communication.
He has authored a book in Hindi on the ideology and politics of the information revolution, edited a book on journalism concepts and writing process published by IIMC. Also supervised and edited five books as part of IIMC content creation project, during his stint with IIMC, worked as the Editor of research journals- the Communicator and Sanchar Madhyam- contributing one editors article in every issue of the journals.
As a practicing journalist, he wrote several articles, news analysis and editorials on media and global politics for reputed newspapers and magazines and has been regularly writing on contemporary political, economic and media issues in newspapers and magazines of repute.
Prof. Dhuliya has produced and directed a documentary on portrayal of women in Hindi cinema for a Dutch Foundation-Women in Development, produced several documentaries and current affairs programmes for Doordarshan and directed two documentaries on tribal communities of Tripura for the Ministry of Tribal Affairs
Prof. Dhuliya has done advance journalism course from International School of Journalism, Budapest, Film and Television Production Course from the Film and Television Institute of India ( FTII), Course on Strengthening Journalism Education in South Asia from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, News and Current Affairs Course (Radio) from the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development, Kuala Lumpur, Training of Trainers Course from the Indian Institute of Public Administration, Training Methodology Course from the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development, Kuala Lumpur, Parliamentary Appreciation Course from the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training and Film Appreciation Course from the National Film Archive of India.
