Komal Beri

Assistant Professor, Humanities and Social Sciences



Komal Beri is a counselling psychologist, specialized in treating anxiety and depression. She is a skilled researcher and has great potential as a scholar. She has the tremendous curiosity for ideas and social reality and also the diligence and humility to find and then stay with a specific site of intervention. Komal has a Masters degree in Psychology from the University of Delhi. Her PhD topic is the Experience and Effect of Minority Stress on Loneliness, Social Support, Coming out Growth and Self-Affirmation of Homosexuals. She has also been involved in designing and conducting workshops and training programs at several NGOs.

Her research interests include emotional intelligence, drug abuse, urban poverty, complex human emotions, gender fluidity and minority stress.

  1. Komal worked in a project titled “Retention and Drop out among Opioid Dependent Patients in Two Community-Based Addiction Treatment Clinics” in 2018. This project was jointly led and conducted by Dr. Ravindra Rao (Associate Professor, AIIMS Psychiatry/National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre) and Dr. Bhrigupati Singh (Assistant Professor, Anthropology, Brown University)  drawing on a collaborative research engagement between AIIMS (Delhi) and Brown University (USA).
  2. She worked as an online counselling psychologist in IWill by Epsyclinic Healthcare (trained in anxiety and depression modules).
  3. She worked as a psychologist in Juvenile Care (NGO).
  4. She worked under a Clinical Psychologist in Human helping Human (NGO)
