Dr. Nutan Tyagi is Professor in the Department of Geography, in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. She has more than thirty-seven years of teaching and research experience, including sixteen years as Professor in the Department of Geography, D.D.U. Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur. She has also served as Head of the Department of Geography, in the same University for three years (2014-2017) and has also served there as Director, UGC Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC). She has eight books and thirty-five research papers to her credit and has also presented several papers in Indian and International conferences. She has guided fifteen PhD and two Post-doctoral scholars. She has obtained PG Diploma in Remote Sensing and GIS from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Dehradun. Her area of specialization includes Urban Geography, Tourism, Remote Sensing and GIS. From 2002, she has been concentrating her research on the applications of Geospatial Technologies in different fields of Geography and has successfully completed four major research projects funded by UGC and DST, New Delhi. She has also organized many three-week summer training programs on Geospatial Technologies and its Applications funded by DST. She has been member of different committees of the University such as Executive Council, Academic Council etc. She has also been a member of different academic bodies of other universities. She has also been the president and chief editor of the fifty-six-year-old reputed journal, published by Association of North Indian Geographer, Department of Geography, D.D.U. Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur established in 1964 and has also served as President of Gorakhpur University Women Welfare Association (GUWWA).
