About

Dr. Devanjan Khuntias expertise is in the sociology of urban space & media. He aims to understand the complex relationships between neo-liberal global market economy and formation of urban social spaces in contemporary India; sociology of crime: forensic sociology; and political economy of news media in contemporary India and its role in shaping public consciousness. Prior to taking up his current teaching role at Sharda University he has taught Sociology at GD Goenka University, Gurugram Haryana. Dr Khuntia has served in academic and research positions such as Research Associate and Teaching Assistantship for various national and international universities such as University of Gottingen (Germany); National University of Singapore (Singapore); Jawaharlal Nehru University (India), and the Centre for Development Studies (India). He is also a trained Broadcast Journalist having served at various National Media houses in New Delhi and has expertise in crime and investigative journalism. Dr. Khuntia has been awarded PhD & MPhil in sociology from the Centre for the Study of Social Systems, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
