  • Infections and their Diagnosis

A.    Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Sexually transmitted Diseases (STDs)/ Reproductive Tract Infections (RTIs): which includes Chlamydia, Neisseria, Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma and organisms associated with Bacterial vaginosis- 

  • Development of molecular (point of care tests) tests for the diagnosis
  • Identification, and molecular characterization (genotyping)
  • Role of organisms load

B.     To find out the association of STIs with cervicitis, urethritis, Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), ectopic pregnancy, infertility and pre term pregnancy.

C.     Tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis:

  • Development and evaluation new diagnostic (point of care tests) tests
  • Molecular epidemiology

D.     Probiotics: Lactobacilli and other bacteria

  • Identification and molecular characterization of bacteria beneficial for mankind.
