We are in the materials age. The development of many technologies that make our existence so comfortable has been intimately associated with the accessibility of suitable materials. Advancement in the understanding of a material type is often the forerunner to the stepwise progression of a technology. In spite of the tremendous progress that has been made in the discipline of materials science and engineering within the past few years, there still remain technological challenges, including the development of even more sophisticated and specialized materials, as well as consideration of the environmental impact of materials production.
In order to map out the current and upcoming materials and also to promote discussion and an exchange of information among scientists, engineers involved in many disciplines related to materials, Research and Technology Development Centre of Sharda University, Greater Noida organized a NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FUTURISTIC MATERIALS. The conference mainly focused on the development of new technologies and materials. The main topics that were discussed include Advanced Materials, Nanomaterials, Carbon Materials,Composite and Hybrid Materials, Ceramic and Glass Materials, Cementitious materials, Electronic and Magnetic Materials, Superconductors, Semiconductors and Conducting polymers, Chalcogenides, Biomaterials, High Energy MaterialsI, Nuclear Materials, Catalytic Materials, Photovoltaics and Solar Energy Materials, Non-linear Optical Materials, Liquid crystals, Microporous and Mesoporous Materials.
A large number of Scientists, Engineers, researchers and technocrats from different parts of India, USA, Germany and Bangladesh participated in the conference. The conference was inaugurated by Prof. N.S.Gajbhiye, an eminent scientist and vice chancellor of Dr. Harisingh Gour Central University, Sagar (MP) and the keynote speech was delivered by renowned materials scientist Dr. Dhananjay Pandey of Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi. The inaugural function was held at the auditorium of SBS building of Sharda University, presided by Honourable vice chancellor Dr. Jagdeesh.
