On 11th November 2021, Sharda University held its 5th convocation ceremony at its Greater Noida campus to give recognition to its talented and hardworking graduates who had shown immense dedication towards achieving their career goals. The Union Minister of State for Education Dr Subhash Sarkar presided over the convocation ceremony as the chief guest. The students and faculty of Sharda University were also honoured in the presence of other distinguished guests including the Minister of State for Law and Justice Dr SP Singh Baghel, Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus, Former Chairman of ISRO Dr K. Kasturirangan and the Chairman of the UP State Council of Higher Education Prof. (Dr.) GC Tripathi.

During the convocation ceremony, Sharda University awarded 75 Vice-Chancellor Medals, 4 Chancellor Medals, 26 PhD degrees and 3232 degrees in various disciplines for the students’ academic achievements. Dr Subhash Sarkar commended Sharda University for implementing the government’s new education policy, which has been enforced to modify the current education system according to the ongoing times and advancements. He said that Sharda University is the premier university of the NCR Region and is doing a great job at shaping the future of its students by providing improved infrastructure.

He told the students that the convocation marked the beginning of their new life and emphasised the importance of research and innovation. Dr Sarkar said that the entire world is awed by India’s knowledge, wisdom and culture and that it was our country’s old universities that first paved the path of knowledge for the rest of the world. He also added that the best way to serve our country and contribute to its development is by focusing on research.

In the ceremony, the chancellor of Sharda University PK Gupta awarded honorary doctorates to Dr Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, the architect of the new education policy and the former Chairman of ISRO, and Dr Mohammad Yunus, an eminent Bangladesh economist and a Nobel laureate.

Dr Yunus joined the ceremony virtually and shared his life experiences with those in attendance. He said that as long as you are strong-willed, you will be blessed with great achievements. He also expressed his confidence in the fact that the students present there will not only bring glory to Sharda University with their future achievements but will also play an essential role in the world’s development.

In his speech, Dr K. Kasturirangan recalled his contribution to ISRO and emphasised the significance of research and innovation. He said that the basic needs should always be taken into account when it comes to providing education. Dr GC Tripathi informed the students about growing career opportunities in the fields of politics, society, science, education and IT. Prof. SP Singh Baghel also addressed the students and talked about the days of childhood and youth. The 5th convocation ceremony of Sharda University was just as interesting and enlightening as it was joyous. The honoured guests and distinguished dignitaries did a great job at motivating the students and inspiring them to stay dedicated to their career goals.
