Registrar is the Ex-Officio Secretary of the University Court, the Executive Council and the Academic Council of the University. He is also a member of the Finance Committee. Registrar is the custodian of the records, common seal and other properties of the University and provides executive support and assistance to the Vice-Chancellor in developing operational plans to deliver services efficiently and effectively.
The Registrar is responsible for overall academic administration, policy development and secretariat services. He manages Deputy Registrars specifically tasked with Finance, Student Affairs, Admissions, Placements and Administration. The Registrar ensures the appropriate use of resources, maintains and improves communication, operational and strategic activities within student and academic services.
It is his duty to contribute to the strategic direction of the University’s student support services and its operational plans to improve the total student experience. He also provides leadership in the development of academic policy as well as its dissemination and implementation.
Sh. Avais Ahmad an alumni of Agra and Meerut Universities had a long career extending upto 38years at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi where he played major role in development of theUniversity. He was deeply involved in establishing important University facilities including theCentral Instrumental Facilities (CIF), a nerve centre of advance research in the field of Life sciences at the its prestigious School Life Sciences.Sh. Avais Ahmad held important portfolios in different capacities and has vast knowledge of almost every branch and University administration. He has been the Secretary of University Court, Executive Council and Academic Council. Mr Ahmad had been a member of Administrative Committee,G. B. Pant Institute, Allahabad; Academic Council, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi; Governing Council IMAGE, Chattisgarh and host of other committees. He has been expert on Selection Committee for Sr positions including the Registrar of another Central University.During his association with Radiation Biology Group of JNU in the 70’s he published 7 papers mostly in international Journals. The papers published in nearly 70’s as a co-author, are widely referred in the field of Radiation Biology.Sh. Avais Ahmad joined Sharda University in January 2010 after his superannuation from JNU as itsRegistrar. Before joining Sharda University, he also worked as OSD at Jamia Millia Islamia New-Delhi for a brief period.
