Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry which specializes in the diagnosis, prevention, & treatment of problems in the alignment of the teeth & jaws. It may be defined as science of moving teeth, straightening irregular, crowded or improperly placed teeth. Dentist who are specially qualified in this area of expertise are called orthodontists.

About The Department
- The department aims at achieving a high and ethical standard of practice, promotion of education, and research. The department has 4 specialist orthodontists supported by chair side assistants and technicians .all the faculty member regularly attend CDE programmes to Share, upgrade their knowledge and teaching skills.
- The department is located on the fourth floor of the college building with separate sections for undergraduate and post graduates. The department is well equipped with 18 modern dental chairs and armamentarium, well equipped clinical laboratory, computer with 24 hour internet connectivity, seminar room, and department library record storage room.

Teaching Prograame for Undergraduates
Undergraduate program is designed to enable the qualifying dental surgeon to diagnose, analyze and treat common orthodontic problems by preventive and corrective orthodontic procedures.
The Undergraduate training begins from third year BDS. The course contains theoretical, practical, & clinical component. The students learn the basic wire bending skill, fabrication of removable appliance, clinical examination and diagnosis of the patients. They are trained for all the infection control procedure during the clinical posting. Students are evaluated during their clinical posting by conducting an exam that includes wire bending exercise, clinical examination of the patient and viva voce. The theory lecture’s are through Multimedia presentations. The lectures are interactive so that the students have a clear understanding of the subject.
