Department of Applied Sciences runs various courses to impart the basic knowledge of science and its applied applications with the help of theoretical courses as well as laboratory courses. These courses help a student to clear his/her concepts towards the application of scientific rules in practical technology. Applied Science department comprises of three subjects:
- Physics: We offer courses like Applied Optics, Semiconductor Physics, Physics of materials, Electromagnetism, Engineering Physics and Nuclear Physics to undergraduate engineering students. To compliment the theoretical knowledge, we also have a well equipped laboratory.
- Chemistry department offers courses at the undergraduate level (B.Tech. -Civil, Mechanical, Biotechnology and B.S.) and Environmental studies for all branches. Our curricula provide the educational foundation for all of our engineering students. Department owes a well equipped laboratory and the experiments are so devised as to give hands-on experience on the concepts learnt in the theory classes. The experiments performed in the laboratory are of direct relevance to the respective courses that include General Chemistry and Applied Chemistry and hence form an essential component of their studies in the higher semesters.
- Mathematics plays a very significant role in learning process and as a result mathematics courses run in M.Tech, B.Tech, MCA, BCA and BioTech and also offer a few electives for B.tech. The syllabus covers wide range of applied courses for example Linear algebra, Operations research, Graph theory, Numerical Analysis, Probability and Statistics, Matlab and Complex analysis etc. Mathematics department is also offering Ph.D in Mathematics. A few research scholars are working in various current fields viz. Mathematical modeling, atmospheric pollution, wavelets etc. Research activities projects our students to international and national platforms.
