About The Department

About

The Department of Civil Engineering at Sharda University is a relatively new department, and is being developed, both in terms of faculty and infrastructure. The department has people of eminence from academia as well as industry, who have exposure to future cutting – edge research programs in the field of Hydraulics, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Geodesy & Mapping, Geographic Information System & Remote Sensing and Global Positioning Systems.

The Department provides high quality teaching and practical cognizance and also caters to the needs of efficient research, technical advisory and consultancy. 

Mission

The Department aims to become a premier civil engineering institution in the world by imparting quality education, leadership in research, development and application of technology.
Another target is to achieve the milestone of being the department with highest ranks in terms of teaching standards, research contributions, consultancy, training and academic leadership.

To achieve its ambition of being a world class education provider, the Department of Civil Engineering at Sharda University is committed to significant enhancement of its facilities and buildings, essential for world-class research and all round development of students.

Industry-Academia Interface

Department works closely with the industry to enhance course curriculum, provide industry exposure and upgrade skills of students and faculty members. This also ensures proper channelization of an education which lies in perfect sync with the needs of prospective employers.

Teaching Philosophy

The department constantly strives to implement the best teaching principles in the classroom to develop world-class engineers and global citizens. A diverse array of disciplinary, theoretical, and methodological approaches and hands-on training are employed, which helps in developing simple, easy-to-understand ways to deal with a variety of complex engineering problems. Interactive classroom teaching is emphasised where students constantly participate in open discussions thereby achieving twin goals of community learning and providing a welcoming classroom. The course contents and delivery are continuously updated to cater to the needs of students and improve classroom learning. We also inculcate the importance of learning throughout life, community protocols, ecological and social citizenship and civic responsibility.
