The Department of Biotechnology has been functioning as one of the disciplines of education under the School of Engineering & Technology, Sharda University. In 2009, the Department introduced an extensive B.Tech. program in Biotechnology and in 2010, M.Sc. in Biotechnology & M.Tech. in Biotechnology & Bioinformatics.
The Department collaborates every day with colleagues at universities around the world - working on joint research, reviewing academic papers, organizing conferences and giving seminar papers. Our view is that collaborations work best bottom-up, driven by the shared interests of academics and in the service of great teaching and research.
The department is running the PhD program and at present has 20 PhD scholars working in different upcoming areas of Biotechnology like Molecular Biotechnology, Molecular markers, macro satellites, Tissue culture of Medicinal & aromatic plants, Cancer research, etc. State of art research laboratories and teaching facilities are important features of the school so that the students have a hands-on experience of all the modern spheres of biotechnology. Initially, the Department is having five laboratories.
The Department has taken a lead in initiating different programs in the most challenging area with high-tech advancement in meeting the growing need of Biotechnology and bioinformatics to sustain the industrial venture. The Department has greenhouse facilities, an animal house, a well-stocked library and state-of-art computing room, which facilitate research and training also..
