M.Tech in VLSI Technology offered by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is a two years program having four Terms. Apart from the study of core and elective subjects of the cutting edge VLSI Technology, the study program also stresses on Seminars, development of Communication Skills, Industrial Exposure, R&D Project and laboratory work.
It is expected that the students after completing the course would find placement in industries such as ST Microelectronic, Free Scale Semiconductor, Cadence Design System, Apache Design Texas Instrument, Intel, Infineon Semiconductor, HCL technologies, Wipro, Analog Devices, AMD, LSI logic, Nokia, Zenverge Semiconductor e.t.c. The concepts of IC Technology, Advanced Digital System Design using HDL, CMOS Digital VLSI Design, Advanced Computer Architecture and Embedded Systems are covered in Term I. The Term II is devoted to VLSI Physical Design, CMOS Analog VLSI Design, Digital Signal Processing, and Low Power VLSI Design.
Since Low-power VLSI Design and Technology has become an important issue in today's consumer electronics, therefore, a comprehensive paper is also included in the programme to cover the principle of design as well as the current status of the industry and academic research in this area.
The Term III constitutes electives related to special topics on VLSI Technology keeping in mind the student’s interest for a broader coverage and requirement of specific industry. The Term IV is entirely devoted to project work in house or / and in industry.
