Clinical Research as a profession is an unmet need in India. The country is poised to be one of the favorable destinations for clinical research in coming years due to its large research and development potential. There is an acute shortage of trained manpower in this field. From the projections made for the pharmaceutical industry, it is indicated that its present number of clinical research professionals is grossly inadequate and at least 30,000 to 50,000 skilled professionals will be required by 2010. McKinsey & Company and the Confederation of Indian Industry have estimated that that India’s clinical research sector would grow to rupees 5000 crores by 2010, a tenfold increase from the present meager business of rupees 450 crores only. Clinical research has emerged as a leading knowledge based industry of the new millennium.

Qualified professionals can look forward to rewarding careers as Investigators, Clinical Research Coordinators, Clinical Research Associates, Assistant Project Managers, Data Managers, QA/ QC Managers, Head-Business Development etc.
